so what exactly is the difference in the 06 rs and 06 gsr?

i know what an rs(doesnt) have, so what exactly does the gsr have that mine doesnt?

rs has like basic weight reductions compared to the gsr.. the gsr is more of a just daily driver.
rs is the cheapest evo out of the all it has no wing on the back no stereo etc. thats what ive seen when ive been testing them it has light weight things and things you wouldnt need as a daily driver. im not sure on everything it doesnt have

The 2006 Evo RS has an aluminum roof, a bar in the trunk tying the rear of the frame rails together, and the guage cluster inside. The MR also has these but the GSR does not.

The RS is also the rarest of the Evo models. There have only been 903 total RS's ever made. Mine is number 155 out of the 358 made in 2006. There have only been 21,047 Evos built worldwide through 2006.

Where did you get production numbers for the 06 RS? Also where did you find your actual production number? I can't find anything. I know our RS' are rare, but I didn't realize they were that rare.

When I bought it (new), I had the dealership look up the numbers for me. They said they talked to the plant to get the numbers.

OEM fluids only if you want to be safe. Many have tried aftermarket fluids only to come full circle back to the OEM fluids. Super DiaQueen for the transmission, DiaQueen LSD Oil for the transfer case and rear diff, and ATF III fluid for the ACD. All can be purchased at Mitsu or through Mitsubishiparts.net.

I don't see the recommended fluid change schedule in this part of the post.

Engine Oil - this one is a no brainer, every 3k or less
Trans - every 15k or less
TC - every 15k or less
Diff - every 15k or less


This is obviously just my opinion and when i change my fluids personally, but depending on how people drive their cars, they might do it more often. Anyone want to add to this?

I only take issue with one part of your post, and that's changing the engine oil every 3k miles or less.

That used to be true with older dino oils, but the newer all synthetic oils can go 5000-7500 miles before needing a change. I also checked the owners manual and it suggests 7500 miles with normal driving and less with severe use.

I read an article about this not too long ago in car and driver as well.
