Updated forum!
Welcome to the new version of evoM. This thread will give you an overview of the robust new features of vBulletin® Version 3.7.3. Please check out the FAQ by Clicking HERE.
An Inside Look at the New Features
Picture Galleries [click]
vBulletin users can now create albums and upload pictures to their account. evoM allows each member to upload up to 100 (pictures in their album. Maximum file size per Picture is 292 KB and maximum Picture Dimensions is 800 by 600 Pixels. If you try to upload pics larger then the maximum sizes, your pics will be automatically resized. For better quality, it is best you resize yourself, THEN upload.
The ability to view these albums and pictures can be limited by the user to just board staff and people on their buddy list if they want privacy.
User-Created Social Groups [click]
To further social cohesion between users and to encourage people to make friends, vBulletin now includes a facility to allow users to create their own social/interest groups. You can access the various Social Groups by clicking on your account, and then clicking on "social groups."
These groups are enhanced by having their own public messaging system, and the ability to add pictures to the group from user albums.
Member New Profile Page [click]
In order to accomodate all the new features in vBulletin 3.7, the member profile page has been completely redesigned from the ground up. The new page presents information in a far cleaner and more logical manner, while dividing up information into manageable chunks using a tabbed interface. Individual profile field categories can be displayed alone in blocks in the right column, in addition to appearing by default in the 'About Me' tab.
Attachment Viewing Lightbox
Clicking on an attached image will now open a lightbox rather than open a new window, with the image scaled to fit the browser viewport. A click on the image in the lightbox will open it in a new window as before.
Your Control Panel [click]
Click on 'your account' to access your control panel. This section allows you to manipulate various features such as;

for the love of god, can we get the standard Vbulletin search back...this custom mess stinks pretty bad.
Yesterday I could search for "mellon" and find threads, today I can't find any. When it does work, it sorts them by thread date instead of post date so even if someone made a post in a very old thread, it will be 19 pages back instead of at the top.

Yes, we all appreciate the new look and feel of the site. It does make for a more user friendly environ with the new features, but the search problem is on-going. Let's try and focus on that issue for the time being. thnxx

The old search was broken, it just wasn't as obvious. The issues we're having aren't due to the search program itself, it's due to corrupted database issues.

The search is the main issue being focused on. This thread is old.

Then what does this say about the new search feature?
I can't find ANYTHING I am looking for.

Yes, thank you, we are clearly aware of this. The lack of a credible search engine impacts the Staff to a much higher degree than it does the ordinary user. It's not like we're sitting here saying "hey, the search sucks, let's not do anything about it". The tech guys are working on it. They are dealing with an old search engine that had issues, combined with integrating this site with a new search engine that has issues with this site. The solution will not happen overnight, but we are working OT to make it both reliable and user friendly. You'll notice that it came back 2 days ago, and is gone now; that is because we found what does work and what does not. We are trying to combine the best of both while eliminating the bad parts. I know it is frustrating, but telling us that it sucks does not help the tech guys work any faster than they are working now.

People like to complain, what can I say?
I was looking for info from a vendor which I read before and now I can't find it. I have tried just about every search word I could think of that might even score a point or two, but nothing so I wanted it to be known.
I also tried to find a thread where my buddies car is for sale, which I posted in. I searched for his user name as a topic starter and everything, no dice.
Just sayin.

Ya, I know. I was looking for threads by a scammer to delete them, no luck with the search. I was also looking for posts by me to re-open a contested thread, again, no luck. We all have our issues, and the Staff has a vested interest in fixing this so WE can do our jobs. Kinda pales compared to looking for a buddies car for sale, don't ya think?
My point is, WE (staff) need this fixed as much as you do. Like I said, the tech guys are not on a coffee break, they're working the issue right NOW.

that's all I wanted to hear, that someone cared...I brought this up once before a while back and didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling that somebody was looking into it.
thanks for letting us know it's a high priority and being working on.

Ya, I kinda noticed that also....I just choose to not participate in those aspects of the forum, although I know that some members like it and if it works for them, so be it.

a lot of that's just the new features that come with vbulletin 3.7 ... I was fine with 3.6 which is what I run on my forum, but you have to keep up with the versions or you'll fall behind on security fixes and supports...it's a necessary evil I'm afraid.
