PS2s tires?
I was quoted $1314 out the Door! for (4 ) 245/40/18 ps2 funflats, balance, free tire rotations, alignment, and some kind of warranty. Good deal or not? and what do you guys think of the ps2? or can i get a better tire with better price.
i'm looking for stock like tires with more miles.
great dry and wet traction. thanks guys

No such thing exists.
Cheap + great dry + great wet + long life does not exist.
You can buy two sets of NT-05's for that price...

What are you looking for in a tire? Is it just for daily driving? Do you need both dry and wet performance?
I had a set of PS2s on my WRX years ago and I think you can find a tire that rides just as smoothly and performs just as well for less. Look at Dunlops, Kumhos, and Hankooks.
The PS2s have both good dry and wet grip and a smooth quiet ride. The smooth ride comes from the soft sidewall, which I think is too soft. My car felt squirmy in the turns on the track.
After the PS2s, I bought the Hankooks Ventus RS2s, which I liked just as much and the cost was much less.
Now, I run the Kumho XSs and really like them. Great dry grip, pretty quiet, and a smooth ride. The sidewalls are stiffer than the PS2s but not as stiff as Bridgestones. They're not supposed to be great in the rain but you and I live in SoCal and can run extreme summer tires year round. They go for about $175/tire through Tirerack plus shipping. A lot cheaper than the PS2s!

I had PS2's for a year. They're a highly rated tire. But a way overpriced tire in my opinion. And they didn't feel right on my Evo, softer and less responsive than the OEM tires. Michelin ended up taking them back after about 10,000 miles when they developed a pull, even though tread wear was totally even. Great that they took them back, but the refund was prorated and didn't cover all the mounting & dismounting, etc. Still lost money.
But big kudos to Tire Rack, I purhcased the tires from them and they got Michelin to take the tires back.
No more Michelin's for me. And definitely no run flats. That is what the spare is for.

Should have done more research. At least you manned up and took care of the problem.
The PS2's are not meant to be an all out race tire as some people think. It was engineered to give you that smooth ride without sacrificing much grip and performance.
Run flat tires is a technology for lazy people, you don't need them since you have a spare.
Bridgestone RE-11 and Advan Neova AD08. Check those out. Still expensive, though.

Michelins are usually overpriced. I have HX MXM4 tires on my 09 tl awd, they have okay traction and cost more than most summer tires. Your best bet is buying Nitto's. I test drove an EVO with Nitto Invo's and they stick to the ground pretty well and not too expensive either if you search around.

Look into Hankook Evos. Very impressive performance for the money, wet and dry.

They hook up very well on my C6 Z06 with a 800hp Lingenfelter TT engine/kit which is pretty good for a street tire.. The run flats will corner harder and handle better then the non run flats due to the stiffer side walls but at the same time will cost you more.
I am putting a set of PS2s on the Evo as well when the OEM tires run out as they have been nothing but good on the corvette. They are very quiet, ride smooth and have good cornering ability I think anyway. You could save yourself $100-$200 and go to a cheaper tire but I defiantly believe in the PS2’s and will continue to buy them for all my vehicles.
Tirerack has them for $1,165 + shipping but if your dealer is saying $1,314 with everything included I would just go for that as it sounds like a pretty decent deal to me and I know you won’t be disappointed.

i had ps2's on my 02 m3 and they were expensive but they were awesome tires. If you're a baller get them if not look around. don't get the rf's though and check tire rack and costco

If it makes you feel good to pay a lot of money to get what you perceive to be superior quality, go ahead and get the PS2's. If you want better tires than the PS2's, see the Car and Driver tire test posted up somewhere.

I've used PS2s (non RFs) on 2 VW GTIs, 3 Audi S4s, 330iZHP BMW and a 335i BMW that had an LSD and 350WHP.
They are an AMAZING tire.
Great grip.
Grip is very linear as they don't just give up.... you feel the gradual give and can drive accordingly.
Another plus is that they are lighter than almost all other tires in their catagory.
Less rotational mass.
Why spend 3K on a set of *****in wheels and then put 27+ lb tires on them ?
I LOVE them.
Having said that, I may try the new Pirelli PZero's next time out.

get Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tirerack ranks them super high and so does car and driver. I retract my previous post and say get these instead
