Continental ExtremeContact DWS....anybody have these?
I know there are numerous threads for this topic, but does anybody have these on there car now or have used them before on their EVO... Does anybody have any other recommendations on any other A/S tire? Im looking to get some A/S tires right now and i want to get them soon. The winter here in VA are not bad but i dont want to get another summer tire and get them all messed up if the winter is a little more harsh this year. Thanks for any info

Hey, had them on my IX and on my girlfriends X-type. We both loved the tires, not one issue at all and the traction in the snow is good and it works well on the dry. Pretty good price when we picked them up in 07'.

I had one in my hand this weekend.
Kind of a weird looking sidewall (more round shaped).
And the 340 treadwear did nothing for me.....

comments from others.
I have had a chance to try it out on my lancer and the ride comfort is great. compared to the EVO tire, there should be no mistake that the DWS is a performance street tire. I am sure you can track it but its not gonna be ultra sticky in the dry.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus is one of the best A/S tires IMO. Check Tirerack on them for a review.

I've had these tires on for almost a month now, driven them in wet and dry, no snow yet. compared to the stock advans, they're a lot quieter. haven't tested out their dry grip but that's not what i bought them for, i got them to deal with light snow and cold temps that summers can't handle. but the lower noise level is really the big thing that hit me about these tires. also they're really great in the wet especially in dealing with standing water.

Back on topic...
I have driven the EVO X a few times... but I am very familure with the poor tires on the RalliArt (in canada) and on the Lancer GTS. Its one of the failing points of our car... well that and the fact that we have no windshield washer fluid indicator lol but hey... I didnt design car so what can I do about it.
One thing you can change is the tires, and I have been searching high and low for a replacement... but even though I havent gone thru snow with this new DWS tire,,, for a rainstorm / heavy downpour, the tires kept the car in total control. I didnt get a chance to whip it around corners or anything. but I did venture into driving on the right line where I knew standing water an issue for sure. In the old Dunlops, it would have been down right dangerous... with the DWS, it harps right thru the water without much drag pull fuss to the right.
For me its not myself that I worry about, but when others in my family take the wheel and go out... i have more confidence it knowing they will get around...
my two cents...

just got the contis dws's put on today and im gonna tell u the difference i felt just driving a few miles...... 1000% better then the advans.... i know the advans are summer tires and not built for ride comfort but these tires r great. The weather down here in virginia beach is crap right now and i could feel the wet traction and non hydroplane i got already. im gonna try them on the highway if the weather lets up a little. all the way with the DWS's......

I've had these tires on my X for a month or so now. Main differences between the DWS and the Advan are:
DWS is more quite (less road noise).
DWS is softer.
DWS does not turn into a hockey puck at freezing or near freezing temperatures.
DWS rolls a bit more around the corners.
DWS tire looks beefier on the stock rims.
Advans seems to handle better in dry warm weather.
