quick q about winter tire size

so ive made the decision to drive the evo with a ski rack mounted top through the winter months and need some clarification on tire size. stock tire size 245 40 18 mounted on aftermarket rims NOW my step father has a set of 215 45 18's sitting in the garage new that he will not be using. will these tires fit on the stock enkei gsr wheels 18 x 8.5 inch? anything i should be worried about ? is it worth getting the new valve stems put in from mitsubishi and have them programmed for 500 bux? thanks

Hmm... I dunno if 215's will fit on a 8.5 inch wheel. I got 225/45/18 winter tires on the stock enkies, and that seemed to be stretching it

I would not go lower then 235 on the stock rims.

The rule of thumb is 1 size up or down is ok. I wouldn't go 2.
