TPMS and Winter

Alright I did some searching and couldn't really find anything regarding this.

Has anyone had any issues with the TPMS in winter? Because I've noticed when it was a bit colder on my summer tires, the TPMS light will go on. Then after a little bit of driving to warm up the tires the light goes off. Has anyone experienced this a lot during the winter season? I know the temperatures here during winter can go from -10C all the way to -40C (sometimes -50C with wind chill). And if people have, anyway to get around this? Just pump more air into the tires?

You lose around 1 psi of air in your tire for every 10 degrees the weather drops. The reason the light goes off after driving is you built a little heat in the tire, raising the psi just enough to get the light to go off.

You should check your pressures when you see this light go off, this way you know where it triggers it. And to make sure your tire is obviously not low.

You can try nitrogen, or just pump a couple extra psi in there during the colder months.

Check your tire pressure went the tire is COLD. Usually before you go for a drive or after the tire has time to cool down for at least an hour.

I woke up this morning with this exact same problem, I figured it was the cold (around 32 degrees).

same here

I have had this for about a week now, light is on first thing in the morning when its cool. Drive for 15 min and it goes off. Absolutely because of the cooler weather....just put a little extra air in the tires and you will be good.

Cool, thanks for the info everyone. I have heard of the nitrogen idea, but heard it's pretty expensive. I'll just pump more air into my tires.

Heh on a side note I could have sworn it's more than 1 psi for 10 degrees, but can't really remember high school chemistry.
