Unhappy Replacing the Ball Joint boot!

Is the Ball joint boot replaceable??? I didnt even get a chance to get a good look at it. But I Know for sure it's ripped. The mechanical function is still good. Im sure installing it isnt hard. Is there a specific tool used?? or is it one of those things where you just put it on and put the rest of the parts back on and it will install itself?? or is it easy enouigh to a point where you can just slide it in??? I just usually replace the whole thing butin this case, working with an aluminum control arm is very risky.
