Get a can of brake cleaner and clean everything off. How many miles do you have on your car? Could also be something stuck in your brake system. Best bet is to take the wheel off and inspect your pads then spray them down with brake cleaner if you can't see anything visiable.

it's pretty normal with the brembos, usually occurs at slow speeds

yeah get use to it. You can search and find some better pads that have less brake dust but other than that a trip to the car wash to blast that dust out once a week helps.

I have 5 k miles on my car. I wanted to go to the stealership but they are like 1 hour away and I also could get the recall stuff out.

as far as the brakes go, I can do that, can I just get a power washer and do work

its kinda ****ty how after 5k they sound like that.

Its just the nature of the beast. These pads are extremely dirty and noisy ( at times).

If you have 5k miles on your evo, odds are they already did the hood latch recall (maybe not though).

I don't think they will do anything about noisy brakes. Kind of the way it is with performance brakes. The noise is either between the pad and the caliper or the pad and the rotor. To fix the rotor, use some brake cleaner. To fix the caliper noise put some high temp grease on the friction lining on the outside of the brake pad.

the squeal on my pads go away after a car wash...but like others said, these are some dusty pads. they get the job done, though. your best bet is getting some low dust pads. actually...any non-race pads will probably have less dust.

... with all that being said, be aware that aftermarket pads are known to burn through rotors. You have nice 2 piece rotors, would be a shame to burn through them.

it's easy. go on youtube watch the videos for how to change brembo brake pads.

then jack it up and remove the pads and grease the hell out of the backs (the opposite side that sits in the caliper) with brake grease. you can get the grease in small packets at the counter of a autoparts store. they're like 99 cents.

i figured out how to do this and i am no expert.

The squeal could be due to any of the following:

1) dust (solution is to clean)
2) design of the non-spring loaded stock monoblock callipers which in general tend to transmit more sound than a spring loaded multi-piece calliper. (No real solution until next pad change)
3) Glazed rotors (since you are under 12000 miles, mitsu will give you one free rotor-cut if you take in the car with this complaint)
4) If you are comparing it to a daily driven car like a camry/accord, remember that stock pads on these cars are ceramic pads which are low performance, but also low on noise and dust. The evo's pads are metallic, which translates to high-performance, high dust and higher noise.

For (2), at your next pad change, you can opt for some anti noise shims like those sold by girodisc.

I am however surprised that you hear the sound when you depress the brake pedal all the way in. In my case, it only happened when light-braking, beats me!!

hope that helps.

A thread like yours pops up every week (do a search). Car and Driver tested the Evo MR and the RA and the braking distances were 158 feet and 184 feet respectively. The squealing is a badge of honor; you are not driving a RA.
