Put on new wheels and tires and no TPMS alarm?

I installed my new winter wheel/tire combo over the weekend and the TPMS alarm has not come up on my dash. I got the combo from tire rack with the sensors but I haven't got them calibrated to the car yet so I have been expecting the message to come up on the display as I know it worked with the stock BBS wheels as it came on when one of my tires was low in the summer. Is there a delay in how long it takes the system to detect that the old wheels are off as I've been driving for a couple of days like this? Seems very strange.

it shouldn't be as long as you are describing. Where are your old BBS wheels in relation to the car when you park it at night?

I spoke to my local Mitsu dealership a couple of days ago and they tell me that the TPMS recalibrate on their own. I was confused because I expected that I would need to go in to get it recalibrated as I have read on this forum that it was needed. I told the dealership that I was going to purchase wheels/tires from tirerack complete with TPMS installed just as you have. I was calling them because I wanted to get the wheels/tires with the TPMS shipped to them so they could mount the wheels and recalibrate the sensors. They said they would charge me only to put the wheels on, no recalibration is needed (for $20 labor total just to mount no balancing)

I'm pretty sure your light will come on. I swapped wheels a couple days ago (with no TPMS in the new set) and the light also has not come on. I suspect it's because I park it in the garage with the stock wheels (which still have some power left in the TPMS sensors). I know for a fact it will come on soon though, as it always has in the past whenever I put on my non-stock wheels. Just give it another day or two and the light should come on

They are in the basement so I don't think that the car would pick them up from where it is parked in the garage. I guess I'll drive around for a few more days and see if it alarms.

It came on tonight on the way home from work. I'll have to check and see if the dealership is going to be reasonable seeing it takes only five minutes to program them. I refuse to pay $100 for something like that.

i am sure a lot of people on here wished that the tpms can recalibrate themselves. never ceases to amaze me on what comes out of the dealerships mouths.

Why can't these dealership people admit they don't know something, instead of giving out the wrong information? This pisses me off, now I'm afraid to have them do anything.

Its usually do to the fact that you talk to a service guy and not an actual mechanic. Next time ask to speak to a mechanic abot what ever your question is.

thats weird man, my one tire loses air and the indicator comes on as it does. how could it take days for yours to finally come on?

anyway, do you have the ID's from the sensors so you could reflash them yourself when the tool comes out? The tool in case you haven't been following the other thread:
