Opinion: Hankook ICEBEAR W300
A new winter tire is created for high performance cars.It features asymmetric tread design with four wide main grooves to help superior handling on both dry and snowy roads.Super Silica Compound and thin multi-waved kerfs are applied to increase aquaplaning resistance and thereby enhancing its wet traction performance. This new winter tire is v-graded and utilizes Stiffness Control Contour Technology (SCCT), which allows the speed up to 240km/hr.
* Outer longitudinal rib block enhances braking and cornering grip in dry conditions.Rib block's continuous sipe arrangement improves performance in winter.
* Multi and thin sipes enhance the winter performances without sacrificing dry performances.
* Wide and straight multi-circumferential grooves for improved performance in wet conditions.
I found these for $150 a piece in 235/40/18.
Also, skinner is better in snow, wider is better in the dry for handling. I take about 4-5 ski trips during the season, especially one to WV. Also living in the Cleveland snow belt I usually get a good bit of snow on the road.
Anyways looking on opinions form people. I was debating between a allseason and winter, but do to some ski trips and crappy weather nothing will trump a decent snow tire.

They look like a great tire... I run the Nokian wr and the Hankook ipike they both work great. Too bad you do not have a set of 17's for the car. You are kind of limited with the 18's... Buy some wheels for winter the Ipikes are a way better deep snow tire.

Yeah, there is no way I can fit a 17 with the Brembos.
So I need to find a skinner tire to make up for it. I dunno, some people complain that this ICEBEAR tire is good in wet/dry winter conditions, but some people have problems in deeper snow. I dunno, I hate shopping for tires. It's a hit or miss most of the time.
I been look at the Blizzaks also.

I looked at the Hankook Icebear w300 and also the Blizzaks WS 60, and after much research I went with the Blizzaks which just got delivered to me last night and they were only about $25more per tire than the Hankooks...amazing deal from Ottawa tires direct ($2200 total cost for, 18in Blizzak WX60 tires, 8.5in rims, TPMS sensors...Hunter balanced and delivered to my house which also included all taxes/environment fees)...this price beat every other Canadian and U.S. company by a mile. In Ottawa, Canada, we get a lot of snow and ice and the Blizzaks rate much higher than the Hankooks...just 'google' and look at the research. I'm also told by everyone I spoke with that the Hankooks wear out a lot faster. The research is out there and since I'm in a snow/ice zone, I want to stay on the road for what was only $100 more for me. If there was a huge price difference between the Hankooks and the Blizzaks I would have gone with the lower priced Hankooks, as the ratings are not bad but just not as good as the Blizzaks.

Forgot one thing...All season is not a good choice...I drove with All season tires for a long time pior to buying a decent set of winter tires. I thought that there wouldn't be much difference and I liked the convenience of never having to switch back and forth...I was so wrong. They are not equal...winter tires keep you and your car safe from skidding all over the road in winter...if you value your life, you need good winter tires living in the snow belts of the world.

I have the Icebear W300 in the stock tires size on the Evo X.
I do get a lot of snowstorms in the Northeast, but 85% of the times the roads are clear.
I drove thru deep and light snow and it handled pretty good. I didn't get stuck at all.
I used the Snow setting and drive cautiously (not speeding).

Thank you for the input. Seem like a good tire for the price then. I think i will go with a set of these for the winter months.
