^You really should've gotten the Star Specs; they'll handle wet conditions every bit as good as the TA/KDWs, but they are night and day better in the dry and have much better turn in. I've run both, so I speak from experience. Give them a whirl the next time you are in the market for tires.

I am not too sure about both these brands in question. But I use the RE-11s and I just test drove them over the last 3 days here in NOVA since we had rain and quite a few puddles, the tires were absolutely screaming awesome. They are even of a wider profile than my stocks (265) and I still had better hydroplaning resistance and confidence in curves than with the stockers. Not too sure about the price difference between all these tires in question, but I can definitely attest to the RE-11's great wet weather characteristics.

Where did you hydroplane at?

I've had these for about a year myself. They are friggin' loud as hell and they only have decent wet/dry traction compared to some of the other tires out there (star specs, for example). I imagine the NT05s are much nicer in the dry as well, but not sure about the wet.
Listen to the other posters on this thread, OP. Sounds like you will be fine - just slow down a bit.

Well its been raining for the past week here in New Orleans and I've driven my car quiet spiritedly to see how the tires are grip wise and I was surprised to find that they handle quiet well in the rain. And I personally think they are about the same as stock when it comes to wet terrain.

I just ran an autox this past weekend (in the rain) with these and I thought they handled pretty good for the most part.

I drove home in a torrential downpour on my nearly dead NT-05's (1-2/32'nds left) last night, even fording a few flooding streets.
No, repeat NO problems. Never did the traction control click in or anything like that. I took it easy (not that I had much choice with the traffic), but I wasn't scared for my tires at any time (hail, yes, tires, no).
Anyone that doesn't have these tires should leave this thread because they are simply speculating.

I live in Seattle and own these tires (For those of you that don't know we get more rain than just about anybody) and they do fine. I have cruised home on a 100 mile stretch of I5 and 85+ MPH in a hard downpour and the only time the car would even come close to hydroplaning is hitting at 1-2in deep puddle at highway speeds. Other than that they do fine. At 60-65 they feel just like any other tire.

Anyone testing their tires in wet conditions should also make sure you have them properly inflated. There were some tests up at tirerack about comparing the contact patch and the underinflated tire was cupping the water in the center causing less contact to the road. I'm not saying overinflated is good either but likely slightly overinflated would fair better than slightly under.

As with all r-comps, deep puddles are to be avoided at all costs. Ive tried both the nt05 and the star spec on a rainy day autox and the star spec was definitely more predictable; felt like i had more control
