I also had this problem. The sensors are in the valve stems. So you have to use the same stems in the new wheels or buy a whole new set of them. I have been trying to get around this for months. So if anyone does know how to clear this, I would also love to know...

If it makes you feel any better the STis have the same problem. Stupid TPMS light has been on about half the time I've owned the car, and the pressures are all perfect.

You can buy generic TPMS sensors. You'll just have to get these sensors calibrated at the dealership. No one else can calibrate the TMPS. It just costs 30 minutes of shop labor time. Which I believe someone said is roughly $90. Some people just live with it turned on.

Hold the INFO button...

I have a second set of winter wheels/tires with sensors...but don't want to spend the $$$ to calibrate it every fall and spring. (apparently the EVO can only learn 1 set of tires at a time).

In case you didn't know, You can suppress the warning light until the next time you start the car by holding the INFO button on the dash for a few seconds. I got into the habit of doing this all winter so it became second nature. Start car - Hold button - drive normally.... If anything, it forces you to give the engine extra idle time before backing out...

Anyone else find it a little ridiculous that Mitsubishi didn't enable more memory to accept eight wheels instead of four? I'm pretty sure that they fully realize that many North Americans carry a second set of wheels/tires for the seasons.

^ Sounds to me like a good way for Mitsu dealers to make some easy money.

My dealer quoted me ~$90 to get new sensors calibrated. Like the Evo, the RA can only handle one set at a time, meaning I need to spend $180/year to run two sets of tires using TPMS.

Nope, keep them. It's the equivalent of changing out a valvestem and you don't want to reuse your old hex nut, o-ring, etc. Sensors tend to acquire galvanic corrosion over time so to prevent that you need to replace the service packs every time you change out a tire/wheel.

Also note that these sensors have batteries inside them and aren't serviceable. So they don't last forever!

I do this everyday as well..... Becomes second nature. I don't even notice it anymore unless I let someone drive my car and they say.... wtf is this light?
