They should ban him, he should take partial responsibility since he put it out under his name on here. Just like if you recommend someone, you sort of take responsibility for some of their actions.

I'm not one for taking a hit.....especially for something so easily avoided.

Ignorance is not an excuse

I've sold many things on EvoM (many big items including a set of OEM Evo IX rims). I've always packed with care to make sure everything got there undamaged. It's so easy to go to your local UHaul store and buy cardboard boxes, packing tape and styrofoam for protection. Heck, charge the buyer for the packing materials...I'm sure they'd be willing to pay and extra $10-20 for the item(s) to be properly packaged. I know I would.

This thread made me realize that I always need to confirm how the seller will pack/ship my item.

I think the OP should take full responsibility as he staked his own reputation by posting "for a friend". For all we know, he could just said that to avoid his stupidity in shipping and his belief that he would be able to get away with such a heinous act. Some sort of ban should be in order or instating a new rule, NO POSTING "FOR FRIENDS" AND ANYTHING YOU POST IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

OH MY GOD......HE WASN'T FULL OF CRAP!!!

He got a signed letter with the managers employee I.d. that's clearly states that she ( FedEx ) packaged those wheels up. She then faxed all those papers over to the claims dept.

Not only was she stupid enough to ship em that way.......she was dumb enough to admit it.

This still doesnt forgive the shipper for letting them go out like that, no matter what idiot at FEDEX said it was o.k.

I think the seller was cutting corners on shipping supplies so he could pocket the difference. Thats the only thing that makes sense to me, and I don't have a clue why someone didn't just throw those things in the back of a car and keep driving. Here in Miami those things wouldn't have lasted 20 minutes. Matter of fact they probably would have already been for sale on craigslist!!!!

This is nuts, absolutely nuts!!!

I no, I've told the guy a 100 times now, " if you would have just put them in boxes I wouldn't even be waisting my breath right now"

He now is hoping that FEDEX gives me the 700 insurance $, then they'll send him back the rims??? That doesn't seem right to me! I'll still be out the 100 bucks for shipping, and forget about all the time dealing with all this crap. Now I have to go find another set of wheels? .......more down time

I wonder if Fedex will give you the insurance money and let you buy back the wheels for at least 50% off?

And the zip tie through the painted spokes in kinda funny

The guy just sent me a text asking for pictures of the rims.... I told him to do a search on evolutionm.net...."how not to ship wheels"
i got a set of bbs rg-r's for my old is300, came with tires mounted and cardboard cable wrapped to both sides, 2 wheels tied together, no damage

sorry to hear about your wheels, hopefully something gets worked out. if you lose the $100, tell the seller to give it back to you or don't even deal with him and just do a chargeback on your card and let paypal deal with it.

It's ok, Fedex will only give you a $100 anyways on what ever claim you make for insurance.

Taken from their 'Liabilities Not Assumed' section 'W'

I wouldn't be surprised if UPS's was the same.
