Hope this helps. I certainly don't want anyone shooting themselves in the foot if they want to go racing on 19" Dia. Wheels!
But you can't run hoosier tires for DD.

Second, all those cars (posted above) with 20's (especially the G35) look like S H I T!!!! Not literally, just the rims. I don't understand this exclusive fascination of conpensating your penis size by introducing large rims to a vehicle that dosn't need them! I say exclusive because it's always the people who buy a car that dosn't suite their needs. Once the OP gets a couple tickets (for speeding and reckless driving) or crashs, he'll understand that aggressive driving is much less important than pussay (to him). Then, he will buy an Audi (would be an M3, but most people of that sort have moved to audi) A4 and cruise around with tinted windows, talking about how many inches of lip they have on their 20's, and stroking each others egos while hitting on chicks who have daddy issues.

Whoa, who said anyone was compensating? You don't have to project your penis issues on other posters here. Also, I can see by your BMW to Audi comment that you watch Top Gear. Get some original material.

HAHAHA....

you think big wheels look ugly. the OP thinks they look good. does that have anything to do with what the car needs?

no one buys an evo to suite a need. they buy it to drive fast and look rich.

if i do get an evo, it will be wingless phantom black with 20" polished wheels and i will probably never track it or street race. you might not like it, that's cool. you aren't driving it.

Then your wasting your money . I just get frustrated because I see how illogical it is for you to buy that car to do nothing it was ment to do, and I'm trying to get other people to see that. Whatever you do with your car is fine, but I just can't stand by and watch someone blow 35k+ on a sports car to drive it like a luxury SUV.

I never claimed the idea as my own, and I ment for people (top gear viewers) to relate to the phrase. That way, I'm not introducing new material, but reinforcing old connotations.

Although, I don't agree with HOW he's getting his message across, I do agree with WHAT he's saying. For those who want to get 20s or chrome rims, a regular Lancer or even the upcoming Ralliart might be a better option. There's no use in buying a 35K-50K race-bred car only to take away from the engineers' purpose in building it...

Don't know if it's been mentioned already but the prototype for the X had 20's and it looks great:

Go look at the threads from '03 where everyone is saying how stupid it would be to put 18's on a VIII. Now everyone runs them.

Simply because people choose them for aesthetics doesn't mean they have any intrinsic performance advantages.
