Post Your Super Stealth Engine Bay Setup

Here in Southern California if you get pulled over by a cop while driving your EVO, he or she will ask you to pop off your hood.

He or She will look for the specifics to give you that emission ticket.

1. Fruity Colored BOV
2. Shiny Intercooler Pipes
3. Aftermarket Manifold
4. Bling Bling Intake Kit
5. Manual Boost Controller
6. Any many more.

An emission ticket will costs you about $500 dollars to pay off if you don't want to put the engine back to stock configuration so you can get it signed off.

That is why I decided to keep my engine bay super stealth. No bling bling mods under the hood.

The trick is to make it look as stock and OEM as possible.

My modification of choice consits of the parts below.

1. Nisei 1 piece matte black upper and lower intercooler pipes.
2. Nisei matte black intake pipe.
3. AEM Intake with custom stealth cover.
4. Stock appearing FP Red Turbo

With the Nisei intake pipe kit it relocates the BOV underneath the AEM box to avoid detection.

So when the officer gets tired of looking and decides to give up and let you go. Success!

Little that he or she knows that the car is pushing 470whp on E85

Unfortunately my exterior mods are not super stealth

But you cannot get an emmision ticket with exterior mods

i hate bling more than anything, i try to keep it as stock looking as possible, i would've kept the oe engine cover but it gets in the way of my oil catch can, also should probably get rid of that sticker....

Should have taken one step further and put the OEM UIP rubber sleeves on the piping.

I did that once on my EVO VIII And it doesn't look too convincing

I wish there was rubber sock that looks like the OEM rubber IC pipe that you can wrap around the aftermarket uppper ic pipe. That would be the ultimate stealth.

I would post mine, but I've got the AMS intake (matte black) . Everything else is matte black too though, so it all flows.

What's the diameter of the Nisei UIP? 3" Try cutting the OEM rubber hose in half and slip it over, the bottom section will be open but you probably can't see it with a casual glance? Otherwise, look for some braided sleeves for electrical cables or something. Make sure it can expend enough to fit over the IC piping.

The matte black Nisei stuff is great for flying under the radar. I have the same intake and UICP as the OP and I'm running the stock intake box.

Still need a disguise for my MilSpec cat though. @Archiebabes, what are you running? RRE rally cat? If/when I move to CA I'm probably going to track down some heat shields to weld onto the HFC.

Here in Ohio we dont even have emissions, and the cops would rather drive around and do nothing rather than pull you over, sooooo its a pretty good situation
