converting my Lancer evolution MR to GSR Manual transmission

Im been thinking of the idea of converting my Lancer evolution MR to GSR Manual transmission; please provide me a full price quote on the conversion parts cost (i.e. manual transmission , pedals , most importantly electrical wiring for GSR And etc for everything else has to come for the conversion to work) and the overall cost

HAHA!

That's probably going to be a very costly venture not only involving the actual tranny swap itself but I'm sure some electrical/ECU components as well. Might be easier to trade someone. Why the urge to swap?

Someone would gladly trade you cars I'm sure. Probably outright or even with cash on their end.

Yeah I'm being completely serious when I tell you it's easier to just buy a GSR than to convert yours

dead serious

No I am really dead serious about that I know it is a big job, but from my point of view it worth it, basically I will need
gearbox (and clutch)
loom
ECU
sifter

but
do I need ACD
does changing the gearbox look is enough or I need to change the whole loom?

would it exceed euro 10000??

You might have to search if it's on this forum or the other but it has been done.

If you were in the US and close enough to me I might even consider it, taking my GSR trans and swap your SST to mine.

Good luck

I have seen this very swap done with my own eyes, and it was a total failure. Even when the car was finally running again, the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. You can try to do this if you want, but it would cost me $5k to do (at least). That is me doing all the work, buying parts with big discounts, etc. Plus, GSR transmissions are relatively cheap here, and I have the parts list for the swap. I wish you luck with this, but I cannot tell you enough how bad of an idea this is or how long this will take you to do. Could you end up spending over $10k with labor on this swap? Definitely.

HOLD UP

there IS a thread floating around either on here or the other forum (i cant remember which) where some guy actually did it.

From what I remember reading, the physical swap of the SST to the 5 spd was the easy part; it was getting the ecu to accept the 5 spd and not light up his dash with lights, errors, and other randoms stuff like a christmas tree permanently that was the issue. I believe he did get all the bugs polished out, but it was painstaking progress and baller tuning skills from others that helped.

I will look for this thread right now, its got good info.

was planning on buying a ralliart and doing a 5spd swap

EDIT-- ^^ LMAO you would post this literally seconds before me. I swear i didnt see your post as I typed mine

EDIT 2 -- here is a thread:

I thought that there was another one, but this might be it. Ill keep looking

Is this one of these threads that is seeing if the fish are biting and if so, to see how gullible we are? Seriously, swapping an MR Dual Clutch transmission for a GSR 5 speed is about the craziest thing I have ever read here on this forum. I have a GSR and love it, but after seeing how fast the MR shifts and what a killer car one could make with the rebuilt clutch packs and built engine, why would anyone want to go with the 5 speed?

Yup, that is the one guy that I know of that did the swap on an evo from an MR to a GSR. He also owns his own shop.

Myself, i do not have my own shop, but did have help from a bunch of friends help. I have swapped the SST in my Ralliart for a 5spd Manual. No check engine lights, only a few warnings. I also permanently disabled my ACD so its straight power all the time. In total i think there are only 2 people that have done this swap (Other guy and me) and there is no real 'list' for the swap and is really only practical if you have a source to obtain parts (There was a GSR part out on the forums when i did mine, got all the misc parts needed from the shifter to the pedals)
