evo x stock wastegate aculator

so was skimming threw the HOW TO for the evo x...stumbled upon tightening the stock wastegate 3 turns and it will hold boost better. it was a 20 min mod so i figure why not let me try it out.

MY own question is there is a lugnut and another piece connected to the bottom of the aculator. what do i turn? the rod itself or just tighten the two nuts on the bottom? im lost here

Take off heat shield at back. Tighten the rod itself. It has a retaining clip you remove, slide rod off wastegate and turn. start with 2 turns and reapply, drive see if you like and if car likes (NO CEL), then you can rince and reapply another turn if you wish.

You run the risk of jacking up your actuator if you do this. It puts a lot of extra stress on it and will cause it to wear out prematurely. Also, if you tighten it too much, you can warp the inside of the housing.

Now if a bigger turbo or an aftermarket actuator are in your near future, then I guess it's not that big of a deal. But I have heard several tuners recommend not doing this.

I almost let this go but I could not. Tuners suggest not too many turns. That case would be, too much boost too soon, thus cel. As far as damage, its a spring! 1-2 turns is all thats needed to hold boost longer. Not sure on the amount of failed actuators that have been reported. Now a upgraded part and tune would be best, but hardly a part I'm concerned with replacing becuase of failure!
