Curbed my rim

So after years of parking to close to the curb it finally bit me in the a$$. Yesterday I curbed my rim nothing deep a little smaller than an inch in length; how could I go about at least smoothing it out trying to somewhat repair it? Would sand paper be my best option for a quick fix?

My local Mitsu dealer has a guy who specializes in alloy wheel repair. He charges about $150 per wheel but I've seen the results and it's nothing short of amazing. Try contacting your dealer and see if they have a similar service.

I did fix my curbed rims before on my Scion tC. Buy bondo, 800 and 2000 grit sandpapers (if I remember correctly), and a spraypaint can with the color of your choice, primer and/or clearcoat.

Mix the bondo til you get a chewy mixture, patch it up nice and neat. Wait for it to dry then wetsand with 800 grit til it smoothens out with the rim. Spray primer, wait for it to dry then wetsand again with the 2000 grit sandpaper. Spray paint, let dry, then wetsand again. Spray clearcoat, let dry, then off you go! Don't forget to tape around the tires and cover with with newspaper before doing so.

Do a google search in your local area or go old school and check the yellow pages. There will likely be several wheel repair companies. Some that will even drive out to your location and fix the wheel on the spot. From the description you posted, should be less than $100. Will look like new.

damn, did the same thing yesterday....the worst feeling. i just sanded the big scratches down then hit it with a very lite grit paper and it doesnt look nearly as bad.

bad curb? did you happen to take a picture of it? just want to see how bad curbing the stocker can it really get. i heard the stocker is weak when it comes to running over...anything.

I feel you. The feeling just sits in the back of your mind! It's really not that bad of a curb rash maybe two of them about an inch long each that are not deep at all. I may try what you did. What type of sand paper and grit paper did you use?

if it is just a small section on the edge....

...sand the area real smooth.
...... then paint it with a little touch-up bottle from "dupli-color" brand.

the best match i have found for the mitsu wheel silver is : subaru "artic silver"

I was thinking of repairing my curbed rim myself, does anyone know the color code of the stock Enkei rims? Should a basic silver be good enough?
