Has anyone made a custom heat shield for Cobb SF Intake?
Has anyone made a custom heat shield for Cobb SF Intake? i heard rumors that when the a/c is on that the car does not run smoothly cause of the added heat going to the cobb sf intake.
i also was looking at the ams intake heat shield, looks like it might fit with the cobb

I would gladly send you templates. You will need 2 Office Despot aluminum clipboards, vice, rotary tool, and a large coffee can or knee.

Summit Racing.com sell a generic Air cone filter heat shield. really cheap, $15-$20. if you are short in time go for it.
Ams also sells a heat shield for their Evo X Ram Intake, but be careful, it's not exactly compatible with Cobb. Cob Intake is shorter meaning some Air still will afect the intake.

I been using my heatshield for about 2 months now. I have no idle issues with A/C on or off.

that set up looks nice however seriously flawed
air intake needs to be straight, there is no need for a sharp bend .
cut a hole in the base for the pipe and extend the whole back side of the guide to the maf sensor
that way all the air flows direct to the intake without turbulence
or not..
my two cents..

I am guessing you are replying to my post. Its a heat shield for blocking hot air from the AC fan( per the thread), not any kind of cold air system.
For the purpose it was built for, it works. With only the SF intake my engine would stumble at idle regularly when it was over 90f and the AC fan kicked on. With the heat shield I only get a very rare stumble that lasts less than a second, and only when its hotter than around 98f outside. I would have loved to made a better setup, but I worked with what I had to make a temporary fix. It turned out to work so well that I painted it and kept it.
If you come up with a better solution please let us know and send me some templates
