Sounds like a incorrect install. SSQV shouldn't give any codes regardles of wether it's recirc or VTA. Post a close-up picture of the install.

Man, I wouldn't recommend ap bov at all. I had some major vaccum leak with that sucker even on full recirc. Let alone thr piston was sticking causing a major boost leak. I wouldn't run that bov even if it was for free. I had the the car customed tuned with the bov on full recirc. Limp mode after limp mode...I just went ahead and stuck with the oem diverter valve. Look at my dyno thread...you'll see how much hp I was losing with the crappy bov.

If your car is stock putting in a BOV will not give you any increase in performance and will cause more problems than it's worth. The stock diverter valve works well and unless you are running high boost you don't need to change it out. Honestly I don't know why people use them as they are such a rice mod.

I heard the recirc system is supposed to be better anyhow because you don't lose boost quite as fast inbetween shifts.

i removed the HKS SSQV for the same reason...however it works great with NO tune..
the easiest way to reset your ECU is to turn on the car.. keep it on for 5 secs.. then turn off... for 5 times...
