Yep. The 18x10.5" ET30 is pushed a bit outward on the rear, but with the relatively narrow 265/35/18 tire it didn't matter and didn't stick out. With a 285/30/18 tire it might indeed stick out/rub, so we're looking at an 18x10 ET30 instead for use out back when we go up in size.

We weighed the Enkei 18x10 ET30 at 19.1 pounds, which seems more reasonable. This wheel would fit the rear much better but wouldn't work as well up front (prolly needs a 5mm spacer). We have longer studs and spacers handy, if/when we need them.
None of these Enkeis we tested had the right hub bore for an EVO X, so we'll machine some hub adapter rings to make them fit hubcentricly.

Yeah in a straight line. The best performance mod you can do is weight loss, it improves every single aspect of a cars performance. Adding power improves acceleration nothing else.
My car being daily driven will only see weight mods that will not affect safety and comfort.

True, that is a lightweight car. Only problem with the RS is you lose ABS...
I dip into ABS under threshold braking a good bit in low speed (autocross) events and I our braking data logging shows that having ABS is a performance benefit. Its still nice to have on track, as a safety net to improve driver confidence and to avoid flatspots under heavy braking. ABS is also invaluable in the wet, like no other driver aid ever designed.
Our ABS/AYC/SST/etc equipped EVO X is a real heavyweight.... lots of electronic doodads and a big big car overall. It weighed 3490 pounds with a full fuel tank at the Houston SCCA National Tour last weekend.  We'll never legally get it as light as an EVO 8 RS, of course, but it was still pretty dang quick at this (and other) autocross event. On a road course all of the electronic help and added mass isn't probably going to make up for the added weight, but we'll see.
edit: we keep trying to get weight out, a bit at a time. We just added a Cobb downpipe and cat and dropped another 10. Every little bit helps...

I bet by swiching out those recaros for some carbon sparco seats will remove dead weight, the exhaust system is also heavy and can be easily replaced. Look at Ryan Gates Evo X, AMS did a great job with his car!

Removing the middle headrest in the back also has the added benefit of allowing you to see better, if you're short
