I do this all the time too!
But not necessary for narcissistic reasons, more so I can see if some punks are going to come up to my car and mess with it or not.
I can't count the number of times I've come out of a restaurant or store and some jealous punks poured soda all over my car or threw something at it. I mean, COME ON! SERIOUSLY?! Then I have to run to the nearest touchless car wash and rinse everything off before it starts to stick.
