Repairing PERRIN exhaust - pics

I recently had my local performance shop install a brand new Perrin exhaust. Found out after installation that the exhaust tip had a minor flaw.

It was ordered directly from Perrin and the package arrived flawlessly. I unwrapped just the pipes, and they were in excellent condition. Hence, I expected that the main piece would be in the same condition. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Once the car came back from a short test drive after the installation, I carefully examined the install and instantly noticed the flaw. I saw the installation from a glass door, so the shop could not have caused this. Hence, I quickly went home to call Perrin and sent a picture of it. Chris from Perrin offered a repair because it was considered used. I was hoping for a replacement but that was not an option. Chris stated that the repair will be unnoticeable as if its new. I hope his standards are high because I don't want it back if I see anything odd.

Anyways, I spent this morning, outside in the rain, removing the exhaust to ship it out. My car will be now down for 2+ weeks.

After wiping down and looking at the details, I also saw this:

The pipe bending is a little rough on one side compare to the other side. I guess this is Perrin's quality standard.

I will post the repaired pictures after getting it back from Perrin. Stay tuned!!!

WOW please update this post. I was really looking into Perrin's exhaust, but after seeing your pictures I am skeptical.

Weird. All the pieces except the one in the 4th pic is mandrel bent. Crush bent is junk and cheap. I would expect their quality to be as high as their prices are. Hope all works out for you.

That really sucks your car will be out of commission for 2 weeks. I hope it all works out for you. Just looks like a casting flaw in the metal, or a problem when bending the metal tubing... Usually Perrin makes pretty quality stuff..

man, I was considering a Perrin exhaust. The minor flaw in the tip I could deal with.. but that bend looks terrible. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see if it gets resolved and they stand up for their products.

That sucks. Hopefully you can resolve that issue painlessly.

My T1R exhaust was flawless, but the titanium tips got a little bent during shipping. Hybrid R didn't hesitate for a minute to send me new tips in express mail from Canada without any cost to me.

Wow that sucks.

Did you pay the full $899.99 Perrin wants now for that exhaust?

In this economy, cutting corners is the norm I guess.

mandrel bent tubing... unless the mandrel wasn't far enough forward on the bend radius then you will get wrinkles like that

I got it on a typical Perrin sale. Arggg... Perrin is closed today.
Thank you guys for all the feedbacks.
I truly feel that this item was not even inspected prior to packaging. I don't even think China made products have a bend like that.
