So plastic engine cover over a plastic valve cover? interesting. I'd rather have the aluminum valve cover, thanks.

What's wrong with a plastic valve cover? The normal Lancers all have black plastic valve covers...and I'm not talking about the engine cover, I'm talking about the actual valve/cam cover. Stock for stock it'll be black instead of bare aluminum, and you can still paint it whatever color you want. I don't see what the big deal is...

Yeah I agree, no big deal. It's not like it's a major load bearing part.

Not as aesthetically pleasing. Those who want a polished valve cover are forced to grab a 2008/2009's. Personally, I'm going to have mine powder coated. While you can still *PAINT* the plastic valve cover, it's just not the same

that plastic is not a same as your Cola bottle. Just because it called plastic , does not means is really a same thing.

example:

Just as no glass are the same durable. Example your vine glass vs bullet proof glass.
Both of them is called glass , right?

yeah, but 20 or 30 years from now, the aluminum valve cover will be just fine, but you want to wager that the plastic ones will be just as fine in 15 years?

who knows
maybe in 10 years time the result will show
but nowadays, cars arent built to last like 20 years ago
ppl are constantly changing car
and old car are being recycle
car time line are getting lesser
hence its not neccessary to get such gd product
its their way of cutting cost
i guess

Bullet proof glass uses plastic

Strength vs weight, plastic doesn't hold a candle to aluminum. The weight of this plastic valve cover, however, is going to be slightly lighter than the aluminum one, I'd be willing to put money on it

haha oh the good olde days

It really doesnt surprise me though. Look at the trend of automobiles over the past 30 years. So many parts have gone from some type of metal to plastic.
