Get a TBE and a tune on the X and you won't miss the IX. Even a X with just a tune will be faster than a IX. X's gain a lot from a tune.

But Evo IX trapping 108mph stock? Dude! That's an extreme exception, not a norm. Maybe at a track that is at sea level, running downwind, downhill, 28 degrees outside... Oh yeah, and with a hidden boost controller.

I have a lotsa time with IXs on a Dyno Dynamics, and they need right at 270whp on that stingy machine to do 108mph. Highest stocker I ever saw was 235whp, which fits in pretty good with Car&Driver's 13.4@104.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but you need a ringer IX and weather assistance.

PS: Tuned only, my last X had a 55whp advantage over a stock IX. It would whip a stock IX.
Yeah, I hear ya

That 108mph is definitely not common. Neither is a 12.9 in the 1/4. But, you can search here on EvoM and you'll find both have been accomplished multiple times at different places around the country.

Most likely explanation...probably all factory freaks and probably all RS models

But, trapping 106mph is not uncommon on a bone stock Evo IX. A tuned X traps right in that same range from 106-108mph from what I recall posted on the forum since the car came out.

My point was that stock for stock the IX is faster and noticeably faster. With a tune, the X comes right up to the same level of performance (and possibly slightly faster)

This is all great info, sounds like a Tune is the way to go. I here the 2010 X is much better tuned from the factory and is allot quicker, can anyone confirm this? Thanks for all your help

Do a search. That is already being discussed on the forum.

Regardless of speed, the Evo IX feels a lot faster stock than the X in stock form. The X has a very linear powerband and doesn't give you that massive kick in the back at 3000rpm like the IX. The steering of the X also feels much slower in comparison.

What a let down, did you ride in a 2008 Evo X apposed to a 2010 because the 2010 is supposed to be much quicker with the revisions that were made?

It is still going to have a smooth power band even if it is quicker than the 2008... If you want the kick in the back, I'm sure a tuner can lower your low end power so it "feels" more powerful.

No I dont care about the kick in the back and wouldnt want to loose power for it, I just want it to feel like a turbo car and by the way people are saying Linear power band makes me think its going to feel like a NA 6 cylinder car or something.

I was riding BRR Racing's Porsche GT3 today. No issue with a NA 6 cylinder there.

The best turbo car I have felt was my GT-R... and that's because it felt more like a NA engine.

I loved the acceleration in my C4, and it was hardly a GT3 like the above example. Feeling like an NA 6 cylinder the Evo X does not, my STi is more like that and it still isn't there. But it certainly is more like an NA 6 cyl than the old Evos. That is the kick in the back. It's going to be fast for sure, you gain power, but you gain weight, that's where you lose (not loose) acceleration capabilities. It will still feel like a turbo car (that is the kick in the back) but less so than the old Evo you knew. If that is a bad thing to you, then there's an easy fix: get a large turbo in the X, the lag will be back, as well as the kick in the back and the "feeling" of power.

Drives: RR X MR

Go test drive one like everyone says. When I had my 8 MR with full bolt-ons/green turbo E85 it would put me back on my seat. But with the SST shifting, ECUTECK tune, air filter the X's powerband beats the previous evos. So smooth in the lower band of the power curve with the MIVEC in the intake/exhaust cams it makes a difference. The SAWC and SAYC I can feel the car bites way better. Braking is improved a lot also.
