2010 Evos get a power bump? (MR vs. SHO merged)
Road and Track just tested the Evo MR touring, got 4.6sec 0-60 and 13.2 seconds at 103.6 with the SST. MR was always slower in the 2008 model, I think this is the faster recorded testing of any stock evos so far even the GSR's. Just by the 103mph trap tells me, the car is making least 30-40 more whp.

NO. They attribute the difference is in the SST programming.
Just because the MR version was slower than the GSR in 2008, it's doesn't mean it will be the same for the 2010 models if the SST programming was changed.
Sorry, no power bump.

difference in SST programing doesn't account for such high trap speeds. Trap speeds is about power and ET time is about shifting.

Has everyone forgot that all the initial magazine tests on 08's were performed on cars with the ultra crappy original factory tune? The better times are attributed partially to the new SST programming as well as the updated factory tune. The only difference between 08's and 10's is in tuning. As well there is alway variance in cars. You may see another 2010 MR test with slower times.

DSPORT Magazine dynoed a 2010 MR Touring and it did 320+ at the flywheel... they were saying how the car was underrated from factory. They dyno'd a bunch of other cars and their advertised number where 99% accurate, for example, their GT-R had 480 flywheel horsepower, and on the paper it says 485...

well the new tune is making significantly more power. 4-5mph increase in trap speed is like adding stage2.

I have heard a few people who brought there car in to the dealer for service got the new tune and left saying the car felt faster, so they probably did get more power. Until a tuner chimes in we wont know what was changed though.

In 2008 not a lot of magazines knew how to use the launch control, they just smash the throttle in normal mode and go. Thats part of the reason.

More like 1-2mph increase. Again, this could easily be the magazines/drivers not properly using launch control.
It certainly isn't 30-40hp!

that 2010 MR did 103.6. Fastest I've seen a 08 MR trap is 99mph. So I say its significant.

We all knew the 2008 tune was ****house, but the real question is why isn't Mitsubishi marketing the hp increase?
Maybe they didn't tell the EPA, or don't want warranty issues, but still...
ON EDIT: maybe insurance reasons...to not chase away potential customers due to higher insurance issues

Maybe the peak power hasn`t changed with the new tune, but the gains are under the curve.
