lol. there is no chance unless the caddy spins out
look at even that old lightning lap -
and that moticello track - the evo is going to get blown apart on those straights - even if it exists corners 5mph faster i guarentee the caddy will catch up by the end of 3 of thsoe 4 straights at least. i think an m3 sedan would have a chance though a small one that is. m5 and cts-v are very closely matched, and the m3 tends to be slightly quicker on more technical courses
I predict at least a 4 sec difference b/w the v and the x mr. interested to see how it plays out though

i'm sorry guys, but I see it being a close race with the "V" being the winner. I have a few friends with CTS-V's and they are very top-end hungry vehicles...

The CTS-V is a great car and handles quite well....I don't think it will close (although I did not bother to see which track they are running on)...Even flashed, the X should get spanked.

i love how the X all of a sudden became the caddy's biggest threat
in all likelihood the CTS-V should blow it away. 3 straights including the loooong back straight? no way the stock tuned MR can stand a chance....
BUT an impressive showing would put the X on the map. i mean a mitsu doing well against a corvette powered caddy? thats impressive no matter who u ask...

Also will depend on driver (of the X)....GM will be bringing some top drivers, so unless the Evo driver is very very good, there should be at least a few second handicap due to driver alone...

The Caddy would def win. I guess the publicity stunt is working.
edit: The evo will have sort of bit more of a chance if the old guy is driving...I mean c'mon the CTS beats M5's

You know the evo X is a disappointment on the stock tune, so that with a bit more drivetrain loss with the MR SST- I don't see it doing much except for getting the usual praise the chassis deserves.

Lutz is actually supposed to be the one driving the Caddy. Apparently he's a pretty competent driver, but I'm sure Jalopnik will find a better driver for the Evo

As cool as it would be for the Evo to win, I think you guys might be a bit too optimistic. The CTS-V has almost TWICE the power and it's a track with one really long straight and two shorter ones.

true underdog...
Also - the Caddy will arrive fresh from GM with full factory backing from its engineers...I suspect that the Cadillac will get more checks than the Space Shuttle before launch.
vs.
The EVO which seems to be somebody's daily-driver that was originally just being used to drive to the track. But is now a last minute substitute for the Jaguar XFR and the Mercedes C63 which both pulled out.
I hope the EVO X is in the shop today getting new tires, new brake pads, new fluids, and everything else that's legally allowed in the contest!

Caddy should destroy a stock EVO. The caddy handles on par with the M5 and makes to much HP for the evo to overcome in the corners.

oh crap... I'm nervous about this one and I ain't even racing
I hope the MR pulls out a good one... I'm being 200% realistic, and the truth is the Evo MR just doesn't have enough numbers to compete... But, I'd like to remind you all that Edmund's "GT-R Against the World test" had the Evo X MR on third place right above the Elise and the 911 and couple seconds behind the R8...
Where's an FQ360/400 when you need one!!!!!! aaahhg!!
if the Evo wins this one (which I highly doubt) then we'll know that the Evo is called SuperCar-killer for a reason!
*ends quote with waaaaaay too much optimism*

I've seen 2 CTS-V at our last track day event...seeing what they're capable of in proper hands, MR won't stand a chance if it's stock. Too much of a deficit here folks, let's not kid ourselves. A reflash alone wouldn't give it that much of an advantage.
My prediction is...MR gets smoked, bad!

Pssssh. I just read the links. Lutz ain't gonna drive if the competition gets real. He's got freaking John Heinricy on standby. That dude is a killer racecar driver.
We'd need a stock FQ400 and Mark Daddio at the helm for even a chance.
Heinricy + CTS-V = stock MR gets destrpwned.
Basically, Lutz is manipulating the rules so they will win, and bringing a ringer driver for good measure. I'd be real interested to see the tires on that Caddy. Its gonna be set up to perfection.
