To Those of You Getting the Fuel System Recall - Please Read
I took my car in to the dealer today to get the Recall done. The first thing I did when I got there was talk to the Evo tech about what all was necessary for the install of the recalled part.
I was a little worried as I've seen some posts where the dealerships are charging money to remove parts of the two-piece UICP's. Well, I have a once piece. I figured this would definitely be a problem; but it turned out it wasn't.
After a few minutes of looking over the car the Evo tech told me that even though the install guide stated that he would need to remove part of the UICP, he would not need to remove it. The total time of the service ended up being less than half an hour. I was very pleased with the experience.
They also informed me that if I had wanted to, I would not be able to purchase the part needed for the recall since there is a liability issue with someone other than the dealership installing the part. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but oh well.
In the end, one thing to take away from this is NO PART OF THE UICP NEED BE REMOVED FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE RECALLED PIECE.

Buy it online, then. The part number is known. We've had enough "horror" stories lately, it's making my mind boggle that people are still "Risking it" for a 30 dollar part.

So where can we purchase these parts or will replacing the fuel rail (with supplied parts) solve the issue? Not stating that the fuel rail needs to be replaced but in case you were doing this anyway....

An aftermarket fuel rail will not come with the fuel line associated with this recall.

So what about purchasing the parts? There's no dealership near me so I have to fix it myself....where can I order the parts/ online if needed?

You can purchase the aftermarket fuel line from fred beans parts here in jersey. I ordered mine from there, it came in 2 days and it was easy as hell to install. It came with all of the harware and it was about $25. Part # MW400021. Phone #888-845-0571. Website- www.fredbeansparts.com.
