Is there any aero difference or benefit between the OEM small and large spoiler?
I'm just curious if there is any data on this.

Don't know about on the X but on a 9 it makes a bit of a difference in handeling on the highway or at high speeds. Had a buddy with the regular Lancer wing on his 9 and I had the factory tall wing and it handled way differently on the highway....Could of been a number of things but I had heard from another guy that he went with a smaller wing and he noticed the difference also.

MrBonus, have you not seen the article on the X's aerodynamics? They explain what the larger spoiler was designed for and I believe even offer graphs that compare the larger spoiler versus smaller spoiler.
I recommend searching here for one of the many posts about this article to find the link, or someone will probably reply to this sooner or later with said link.

Bah... here I did the 2 minutes of searching for you. Fig 2 shows exactly what you're looking for.

Cool! I heard the better a rear spoiler looks, the more downforce it provides.

I know the small one causes a whole lot of difficulty when looking out the back of the car... maybe the larger one doesn't.

That .pdf is talking about a straight foil like an IX wing. IIRC, the short non-SSS wing is contoured the same in the middle as well. But the SSS wing is the one in the demo.

having no wing vs having a wing makes even a bigger difference. Car handles better with a wing period or any form of downforce in general.

I think you're right. From what I've seen, the short wing does have the same shape.
I wonder how much of a difference the height makes between the tall and short spoilers?
I also wonder how much of a difference the little aero lip adds to either of the spoilers?

Fig 2 clearly states standard EVO X, not standard Evo IX, VIII, etc.
I can't help but disagree since there are no Evo X's that come with a IX wing.
(also, there's a direct comparison between Evo X with aero upgrades, standard Evo X, and the Evo IX you referred to)
