Congrats on the MR Touring. When and if you decide to swap out the seats, I will gladly take the stock Recaro's from you.

Highly respect of you my friend. If everyone in this world think like you do, we would live a much safer life and everyone would be happy. You are very generous and I sincerely hope your friend will get better.

The X is not that bad either. It looks mean and aggressive. Eventhough it doesn't have the power and handling the GTR has, you can always upgrade it to get there with money. Like someone said already, at least it doesn't cost as much as upgrading the GTR.

For almost the cost of JDM titanium exhaust for my GT-R, I have the following mods being put on my MR next week:

AST 5100 monotube coilovers
AST camber plates
AST GT springs and tender springs
AST rear shock mounts
Do-luck CF trunk
Do-luck CF front lip
Rexpeed CF side skirt extensions
Rexpeed CF side vents
Seibon CF rear diffuser
Fujistubo Legalise cat-back exhaust
AEM cold intake
19x10 Advan RZs in gunmetallic w/ limited edition black Advan center caps
Perrin shorty antenna

I'll do a dyno tune at 2500 miles and that should be it for the purpose of building a great Evo MR for daily street driving.

The Evo will never replace my GT-R, but even when I do get another GT-R, I will keep the Evo because it is a perfect daily driver for me and IMO, keeps in the spirit of the GT-R. I've had my share of hugely powered German performance sedans and I'm simply enjoying the MR more than any street car I have owned... short of the GT-R.

Now if I could just find a hack for that DVD player...

Lol I'm trying to imagine how much a GT-R exhaust is, those are some pricey parts, and a lot of them.

With the smaller pool of GT-Rs out there, aftermarket companies do have to recoup more of their costs per unit, but the premium on GT-R (and other high end cars) can be ridiculous. There are more reasonably priced alternatives, but if you want a specific part that happens to be JDM, you are going to pay a hefty amount. That being said, I look forward to getting another GT-R and splurging on some CF rims and a healthy engine and tranny tune.

Reading a thread about someone downgrading from a GT-R to an Evo makes me feel great about my car. It will never equal a german automobile in terms of materials and build quality, but it far surpasses them in rawness and pure performance. I'm glad you had some money leftover for modifications, since this car was built with the purpose of being improved.

Have fun and enjoy your rally car during the upcoming snow season!

Mods completed last week:

AST 5100 monotube coilovers
AST camber plates
AST GT springs and tender springs
AST rear shock mounts
Fujistubo Legalise cat-back exhaust
AEM cold intake
19x10 +25 Advan RZs in gunmetallic
Works custom dynotune
Perrin shorty antenna
Potenza RE 050A Pole Position 275/30/19
Eibach sways bars

Mods to be completed by next week:

Do-luck CF trunk
Do-luck CF front lip
Rexpeed CF side skirt extensions
Rexpeed CF side vents
Seibon CF rear diffuser
Gunmetallic Advan center caps

The stock suspension felt really good for the street, but I definitely wanted a lower ride and something slightly more firm. The AST suspension monotube system is amazing. I have them set at 7/12 and the ride is just perfect for the street. I'm sold on the monotube design.

I'm accustomed to significantly more power than the stock Evo X so I had a moderate custom tune done at Works, to get me close to 300 hp and 300 lb/ft tq at the wheels. Nothing radical... yet. The added power is great but the way that power comes on is what I'm most happy about. Peak torque kicks in at about 3400 rpm and holds steady through 4600 rpm. The throttle feels much more responsive.

I went with the Fujitsubo cat-back because my MR is almost exclusively a street car and I wanted something that wasn't too loud. It is only 2dB louder but has a much nicer tone than stock. Quality component for those looking for something more low-key.

I'll post a more detailed review in the near future. I am extremely happy with the MR and am really enjoying the step away from the German luxo brands that had me yawning instead of smiling behind the wheel.

A few iPhone shots. Sorry for the low quality:
