Weekend DE -- No place to screw a tow hook

Going to a BMW club HPDE this weekend. Went to screw in a tow hook, but there isn't any place to thread it!! Unbelievable. What happens if I go off track? Now I'm thinking about taking my normal track car. I was really looking forward to seeing how the Evo performed.

Any advice on where to strap onto if I do go off track?

i had the same problem when i had to get my car towed. the guy eventually figured it out. i believe in the front he just tied it to the control arm and for the rear just the strap it to the rear wheel.

Hallett? Let me know how you do.

If you get off, they can always strap it around the control arm. I've had to tow mine this way once

Hey, come find me, I'll be at Hallett with the X too!

You don't need a tow hook because you're not going off.

Right!?!

This is what I tell myself.

My back up justification is that I probably can pull myself out of anything off track the car gets stuck in (save for maybe a tire wall).

Whatever you do, don't screw in one of the towhooks and use that to tow your car. It is not safe. It just screws into the support.

Humm...I did this for my tracking:

Hot Lap Motorsports Front Tow Hook Installation (w/Pics)

Might be able to do something similar for the X?

I've driven Hallett 4 times, and have never been off track, but there is always the first time. My normal Hallett ride is a 997. I'll be curious to see what driving adjustments are required with the Evo. I've reserved race port 12 across from the restrooms, so I'll be hard to miss.

Too cool, two X's!

I'll hunt you down I'm hoping for warm, but not melt the tires hot.

Any idea what run group you'll be in? I'll likely be in intermediate.

on the rear, theres a tow hook on each side of the exhaust tips... Its hard to see but if you look below, youll see them sitting pretty right next to the exhaust tips behind the lower bumper diffuser... for the front, get a legit tow hook and use a couple of lock washers and a nut. Drill a hole through the crash beam and BOLT IT with the nut from the other side of the crash beam... (through one wall of the square crash beam is good enough).... Bolting it from the backside will provide you with legitimate and ENOUGH support to pull you out from the front.

If you dont want to do any of that work, use the factory hooks at the rear!

Have fun and be safe!

Kudos to Goofygrin.

He reflashed my Ecu within 10 minutes of arriving at the track (way more power), and gave me the info on the Tactrix Openport and ECUFlash software (which I've already ordered and downloaded).

Goofygrin was also tearing up Hallett with 1:32 laps ON STREET TIRES the second day, as he corded an r-comp on day one.
