I saw Beaverton Mitsubishi markup their base GSR to 45k. Probably why they went out of business.

i didn't read the entire thread, just the first 4-5 pages but why would they make a touring package for the MR and not the GSR? it seems like the GSR buyers would be more likely to add a touring package (which essentially decreases performance) than the MR people would. i thought the MR would stay track-oriented, while the GSR might offer more luxurious options. definitely confused.

It's only confusing if you make confusing.  Packages are for customization usually. Just get what you need and want.

problem is, someone like me would want all the luxury features of the touring package but you can only get them on an MR which doesnt have a true clutch pedal manual transmission, thats why i just decided to go with an 08 GSR SSS for well below invoice instead of waiting for a 2010 which isnt really an upgrade

It's probably a steel roof. The VIII/IX that had the SSL package (with the sunroof) had a steel roof instead of the aluminum roof.

^ this. If they offered sunroof on 2010 GSR, I would have waited. 2010 GSR upgrades wasnt enough to entice me.

It is an aluminum roof, same as the outlander which has aluminum roof and moonroof.

the roof with the sunroof is steel. If you read the TSB on the Evo X you will see that noted.
