I like the old red display- FWIW Audi puts color screens on the lower end models and keeps the red LCD on the R8 and Gallardo. Red is a better color for night displays because the pupil reacts less to red light.

I'm just wondering is this what the evo is becoming? More luxury additions instead of performance? I know its been said, but it seems Mitsu is really moving away from the initial consumers they targeted with the first introduction of the evo into the states to the BMW crowd. Before they start offering upscale amenities for the evo, they need to start offering better quality service at their dealers before continuing to pursue to BMW and Benz owners. Soon or later we going to see evos like we see accords on the road. And that will be a very sad day. I'm really interested in what will happen to evos as far as what new advances they will have in-store for future evos.

I doubt they will be as common as accords- in fact you're contradicting yourself a little since it doesn't sound like you believe they will be successful going up against BMW and MB. Mitsu's in a tough spot- their marquee product is too expensive for young people to afford (and there are a lot of people who have used ridiculous 72 month and greater loans to buy evos on pizza delivery budgets) and doesn't have the brand cachet of BMW. I'll probably buy an X but I think resale is going to suck on them so I'll wait a few years, sell my IX MR and buy an X for a net difference of $5K.

What should really happen to appease all parties is Mitsu should have 3 model evos: RS, GSR, and MR
They would be equipped as follows:
RS - option for no AC, option for no radio, light weight, basically a canvas for people who want to modify and race it, 5spd only
GSR - pretty much as its equipped now but could also be had with dual clutch paddle shifters
MR - leather, sunroof, power heated seats, 6spd manual or paddles, high end sound system, other upgrades to fit and finish
Engine in all these would be a 4b11T that actually has a decent factory tune and runs less rich, lets say 320hp/320tq that gets 19/26 mpg in the RS and 18/24 for the MR

The GSR & RS are still aimed at the core customers. The MR Premium is aimed at the people that found the GSR a bit too raw for their tastes. Go drive an STI if you think the EVO is moving away. An STI rides softer than even the MR and that's the only way it comes. Be happy Mitsubishi gives you options.

None of these options matter. What Evo X needs most right now is more performance from the factory. That's what the Evo brand has stood for from the beginning, not leather seats, fancy audio, etc. 290hp is nothing these days! Mitsu seriously must step up the power, or risk being left behind the competition. Evo being a giant killer will sadly just become a joke. IMO, FQ360 needs to be the standard Evo.

When you have a major overhaul to a car or any vehicle, the next few years are minor upgrades to fix the most gripes about it. When Yamaha released their 2006 YZ 450, the following years saw very few updates. 2010 will be a major overhaul. Usually works that way with everything. There shouldn't be any major upgrades, only revisions the following years. Would it have been nice to add some extra horsepower? Sure, but personally I'd rather start where it's at and add my own horse. I've found over the years cars with a lot of horsepower get rattly and make noise a lot sooner than cars without it. Perhaps has had a lot of complaints about this?

It's heading to hybrids and cars that get high fuel mileage. You were talking about Mitsubishi upping performance and I don't believe North America will ever see a 330HP or higher EVO. In fact the long term future of all cars of this type are in question.

I am dying to see this "Rotor Glow Orange". I hope it looks similar to the Porsche GT3 RS Orange.

yup, it is going to be a niche vehicle, meaning the bluebook values doesn't matter anymore, it will be priced as the demand for limited vehicles of this kind takes
I'm looking for a hybrid so I can put less miles on my evo 9MR
