Tow points on the X
I plan on doing a track event this coming week. One of the requirements is that the car must have a tow hook, or a tow point somewhere else.So does our cars have one? Or do we have to buy an aftermarket one? Whats the scoop on this?

I know HKS makes a carbon bumper cover with a tow hook...not sure other than that.

None of the tow hooks are gonna be effective. Our crash bars don't have a tow hook hole although we have a tow hook cover on our bumper. Anything installed would just be for looks and any force applied to the tow hook would not end up pretty.

Is there any companies importing the jdm bumper beams?? That would be an easy fix.

Untrue. The front aluminum US crash beam is cabable of handling a tow. I track my X regularly and if you drill a hole where the hook plug is, you can bolt on any race-spec hook and it will work flawlessly. I have been towed off the track so I can personally attest for this.
For the rear, you have a couple of hooks already by the exhaust tips. If you look below your rear bumper, you will find one hook eyelet on each side of the exhaust tips.
Good luck at the track and have fun!

Thanks alot for the info antics. Guess I was wrong. I'll definitely be looking into getting a tow hook now.

Saw that at Barnes today in the latest Modified magazine. Or maybe it was Road and Track.

^ That's pretty cool. I like how the eyelet swivels. Where'd that come from if you don't mind me asking?

You will need to drill and tap your own threaded hole for the tow hooks. I checked under the little black plastic doors on the front and back bumper. No pre-drilled holes (only UK and Japan get them) so we have to drill our US spec cars. (edited)

Whoa, I spoke too soon. I got the tow hook from Moss Motors that was recommended in another thread on evoxforums. It's a good quality piece, but it didn't come with a nut to secure it to the crash bar. Moss says the threading is specifically for a Mini. Looks like metric M16 with a 3.0 pitch. I've looked all over but can't find a nut that size. Has anyone found the correct nut? My local hardware stores and even Fastenal on line only carry 2.0 pitch for the M16 bolt. This threading is much "coarser" at 3.0 pitch. I can't find a metric M16-3.0 tap either.
