Gates311: Weight reduction on my Evo X
Hey guys, I made a quick list of some of the things I've done so far for weight loss. I measured all the weights on the same scale, these are the #'s I got. I don't have the weight of the stock seats, rotors or exhaust, but replacing those is a huge weight saver. My Brides are 14 lbs. each and the Girodisc Two-piece rotors saved 22.5 lbs all around.
For the most part this list covers everything, there are a few misc things that don't really need mentioning. Also, I run and AMS Fuel Surge tank...so now I can run 1/8 tank of fuel instead of a FULL tank, so weight is lost in fuel as well. The car itself weighed ~ 3,160 w/fuel at this point, so compared to the stock 3,550+, it's down quite a bit with a stock "appearing" interior. Will be even lighter come March
Exterior
- Rear bumper beam = 33.8
- Front bumper beam = 17.8
- Rear tow hook = 8.6
- A/C Removal = 21.1
- Misc bolts = 3.0
- Fog lights (both) = 3.1
- Battery = 39 (replaced with 13 lbs)
- Stock exhaust = ALOT
- Stock suspension = ALOT
- Stock rotors = ALOT
Interior
- All airbags = 14.4
- Sound deadening tar = 10.2
- Audio - Speakers = 6.2
- Audio - Deck = 6.2
- Audio - Amp = 6.2
- Audio - Sub = 16
- Trunk walls = 2.0
- Battery cover = 3.0
- Tools = 6.8
- Trunk/Hood plastic = .8
- Spare tire = 40.2
- Spare cover = 4.0
- Rear seats = 40.2
- Washer fluid = 12.4
- Floor mats = 5.4
- Random/foam = 6.0
- Stock seatbelts = ALOT
- Stock seats = ALOT
Any questions.....let me know

And a photo in case anyone doesn't know the car:

don't know if you have the answer to this but i swapped out my stock intercooler and right behind it there was a weight i had to remove in order to bolt on my new piece. what is the purpose of that weight? i thought the car was supposed to be front heavy as it is, why add weight ?

Your car looks GREAT! My wife and I took a look at it at AMS last week when we were dropping off a car.
