OEM oil filter for Evox
Hey everyone, I have a question.
Is there a difference between these two oil filters? I bought a filter from the dealer and they gave me a different one then the one that came on the car. I still installed it but I just want to know if anyone knows a difference. It seems the original one has a thicker o-ring seal.
MD356000 original one that came on my EvoX GSR
MZ690116 one the dealer gave me
edit* fixed typo

its the same thing in my job, they mass produce parts from many different manufacturers. If the part number cross reference to their parts listing then you are fine. Nothing to worry about

even domestically made cars have different labels or slight variations in the dealer oil filters vs. the assembly line ones. I don't know why...maybe the first oil filter has a different bypass pressure or a good filter media to help with break-in lube and other metals that are present with the break-in.
Another idea is that the first filter cost a nickel less because the sticker was cheaper and the paint was less costly...cheaper o-ring...??? i dunno, but when you are paying for the 2nd filter, i guess the extra 5 cents doesn't become a factor like it does with assembly line cost savings measures.
