Because the dollar sucks. If an $80000 Evo would sell here, I am sure they would bring it. They had to dumb the car down a little for what the market would bear. I think its a steal on wheels at $29999.

because they have a market for it. Before the Evo X came out, people were already complaining about the price, would you think that Mitsubishi would release an even MORE expensive version in the states?

Also keep in mind that the Mitsubishi of UK is a distributor so they can do what they want to the cars.

prices are out of whack all over the world. we actually have the cheapest price on these cars. most other places around the world have a government tax of some sort driving up the price regardless of local economy. some places will actually tax you based on the displacement of the motor or performance of the vehicle. I know that for a fact in Greece if the motor is 2.0lt or less, AND costs less then 50,000 euros, the government does not tax you. thats why you will see an S2000, RX8, EVO, STI, all cost the EXACT same price. for the first time you might consider us lucky, though it took forever to get these cars here and we still miss out on some awesome cars from the past, BUT at least an EVO is not 80k

to add to that, with the exception of of the FQ cars from Ralliart, some things that are missing from the USDM such as the yaw control and previously on the STi, AVCS was not available here. cars are different, partially to keep costs down to appeal to our specific market, but at the same time exclusivity is a factor. Not everything is available everywhere, its just that Europe is all connected and vehicles can be more easily imported and driven into your country unlike here in the states.

@Jersey Dino Do you really feel that's true? Our import laws (for both consumer level and commercial level) are pretty lenient. The hardest part (for consumer level importing) is finding someone who can make the safety standards in-line with our own for a decent price. I feel it's easier to obtain cars in the US than it is overseas, no matter where you are. We have manufacturing plants galore here, and the ones we don't have are usually right across borders that you can traverse with a car (e.g. Mexico, Canada). Whereas in England (RHD car is from England not anywhere else in Europe as the rest of Europe is LHD) it's an island, there's not much space, they might have a few plants, but the most convenient way to get lots of cars from point a to point b is by a boat, or by several hundred semi's going through the tunnel (which I doubt is the scenerio here)

I read the article, the FQ-360 makes 354 crank hp... that's about the same as what Buschur and AMS get with the same mods: larger intercooler, turbo-back exhaust and a flash.
