Daytime Running lights

does anyone know how to turn these things off. I am not a fan of DRL. my vette had a single fuse that would disable it. , I will dig thru the manual some more.

If you figure it out, let me know. I want them gone as well. It was a sub-menu in BMW, but I did not see it in the Evo submenu when I peeked at it.

That manual is a big sucker, huh?

ok, Just did it. if you want the walkthru go to the how to section but the down and dirty is grab your manual page 7-42 , go to the fuse box in the engine and pull fuse # 13. last one the bottom row 10 AMP. have fun going stealth.

is fuse #13 only for the DRL or something else also? This gives you full control of the lights after pulling this fuse?

whats strange about these is that i own a 2008 lancer gts. mine didnt come with fuse 13, and some lancers did. My lancer is wired as a "CAN" drive circuit. I recently installed a HID kit, cousing my lights to stay on constant, i really dont think there is a way to disable them yet. Unless you have fuse number 13 and your car wasnt wired in a CAN drive circuit. Even when my car is off it shoots out 12v constant. had me and my installed puzzled...

There's another thread on this, and from what I can remember, pulling fuse 13 will only affect projector housings, not the reflector housings.

Pulling the light bulb seems the best way to get rid of DRL's. I did it on my Turbo X to get the "light bar" on by itself (see pictures) because in Canada DRL's are mandatory and were always on. Only downside is a message on the information panel "DRL fault left and right bulb". I don't know if the Evo is "smart" enough to detect that the bulb is out. Try it anyways... it takes 2 minutes.

ah so what you are saying is that for the models with projectors in them, pulling fuse 13 works.

my DRLs and headlights are the same bulb...so pulling them means i have no headlights

i never understood the point of drl...they are annoying to me...actually can make it harder to see an oncoming car cuz of the brightness if they are aimed wrong...i mean it just doesn't make sense...cant u see the car fine without them?...as far as foggy or rainy weather...just turn ur lights on...common sense...glad my ix doesn't have drl
