Full bolt ons, time to upgrade Turbo!
Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums, and have had my Evo X for nearly a year now. I took my Evo to the dealer for a recall on the master Slave cylinder, and they took it upon themselves to reflash my ECU and existing open source tune! x.x
With that being said, If I have to get it retuned, I would like to upgrade the turbo. I recently purchased a Cobb AP. My other mods include:
AEM intake
Greddy Catback
Ultimate Racing Down pipe
Ultimate Racing test pipe
Ultimate Racing UICP/LICP
ETS 3.5" intercooler
Grimmspeed EBCS
Competition Stage 3 single disc clutch
My goal is 380-420whp on 93 pump. (Very few E85 stations in Alabama). The car made 316/317 on 91 on a mustang dyno prior to the incident. I was looking into the MAP EF3! If I'm having a shop install and tune for the new turbo (I was looking at TopSpeed Atlanta) are there any other mods I should have done to the car prior? I'm open to suggestions!
Thanks!!

with a bigger turbo, you will need new injector and fuel pump.
also, you will need either porting your stock exhasut manifold or buy an aftermarket one.
Map EF3 is a good turbo, but the downside is its not a ball bearing turbo. if you like you can either get the gtx3071 or gtx3576. those are the best BB turbo beside FP.
btw, is your downpipe with o2 housing? if not, then you will need another downpipe that with o2 housing.

What's the best BB turbo for the money and ease of installation and is the manifold absolutely necessary?

Yes, my DP has the 02 housing. I don't want to go cheap, but I hear great things from EF series, and I'm really leaving towards the 2.5. Greater spool would be nice, but I don't want to spend another $1000+ just to have BB. What manifold would you recommend? MAP tubular? ETS?
Thanks!

I've also been partial to the Full Race tubular exhaust manifolds, great power across the RPM band and even with maybe a 100 rpm spool loss the car is very responsive above the boost threshold. EF3 definitely is more top end, where as MHI or EF2.5 would sacrifice a little to regain some spool and response. Both sizes are good for the street, you just need to set your goals.
As others have mentioned you will definitely want to upgrade the fuel system with 1000cc injectors and 250-300 LPH fuel pump.

So definitely best stock location ball bearing turbo is the gtx? Thanks for the input and to the OP, an Evo 10 here recently put down 440 on 93 with stock motor and bolt ons EF3

I'm really considering paying the extra $ for a BB turbo. Now I'm looking at FP Green BB, GTX3071R, and CBRD Full BB. Decisions decisions... I was also told that my Ultimate Racing DP (with bung) sucks and that I should get an AMS widemouth.
