Its painfully obvious that "strocse" has no clue about manufacturing processes and Research and Develoopment. AMS isn't going to booget together a kit and call it good like some other companies are doing. Besides whats the rush?

its painfully obvious you like to read your own posts and have no idea what u are talking about.. Here is the original Post about this manifold. If AMS gets this thing done by march that would put it at almost 2 years for production. I'm not here to bash AMS, they are the premier Evo shop in the country. But somewhere along the line Martin either shelved it or ignored it. That is the only part holding up the Turbo kit from being done.

The casting process is a slow one but its worth the wait. I anticipate units for sale in the Feb - March Months as we continue testing and get production manifolds in here for sale. Other kits are out there making power for sure but not a single one is being put through the BRUTAL testing that ours is undergoing on our Time Attack EVO X and Ryan Gates Time Attack car.

Will these manifolds only be included with turbo kits? Or will they be sold separately? For stock like applications. IE DOM Series, FP Series, CBRD BBK Series ???

There are part of the kit. Instead of a handmade tubular manifold, they're casting them...fyi the AMS turbo kit is 6lbs lighter than the stock kit! The turbo and wastegate attach using Vbands. Pic for reference of manifold and Vbands:

that's a very nice cast manifold. never was a big fan of welded ones; up till now all my aftermarket exhaust manifolds were ceramic/cast.
just hope that one day there will be a cast one that can retain the original heat shield for stealth instead of having it stick out like a sore thumb.

I appeciate the update Eric but on the other side of the coin I can understand why some people are getting antsy waiting for products to be released in a reasonable time frame. Some posts from the original thread pulled from here:

We are having a test unit made now to make sure that the performance and fitment is where we want it. The kit itself will not be ready for quite some time. I would think in the 10-12 week area.

We are having the header cast and that takes a decent amount of time. Sure we could make a tubular header but with the space constraints back there and the potential for VERY high heat issues we don't want to risk a safety hazard.
We anticipate having something ready near Christmas time taking into account the casting process and what not. Trust me it will be worth the wait!

FYI, after a design is finalized, it'll take anywhere between 8-20 weeks to get parts that are cast.

so we're looking for a Christmas time release? Or just the arrival of the cast prototype? This thing looks great so far. I want wait for it to come out!

So I'm assuming that you had the cast prototype by spring 2009 and then tested it all this season for durability.
How long does casting a manifold really take anyways, I think it was stated as 2-5 months but that wasn't quoted from AMS. Seems like your current casting vendor has an extremely slow turn around time. The post announcing the turbo development was July 25th 2008 so we are talking 15 months have passed already and if the anticipated release is met then we are still 4-5 months off or 19-20 months from the original announcement.
While some people may hold out with their stock turbo setup, many, many sales have since gone to other competing products in that time frame. I think we can all agree that AMS is a leader in testing their products before release and has some of the highest quality in the industry, but 19-20 months of testing & development is just too long in my opinion.
I'm sure it will be great when it comes out but in the mean time you can't really blame people for stomping their feet in anticipation!

I'm not even going to be in the market for a "big turbo" kit like this, but hot damn it does seem to be taking forever. I remember reading the first thread back when I was debating getting an X

So I guess no monster sport heat shield with this manifold either?

I can COMPLETELY understand why the ?? are raised. The reason why this is taking longer is the way the casting process works. Once we design a piece to cast we make a plastic sample. If we like the way that sample fits and is designed we then send the file to our casting company to create a cast sample. That take about 2-3 months to get a sample. If we like the sample then production units can take 3-4 months after that. The curve ball happens when we do not like the sample or it is not up to our standards. If we need a change or don't like how it turned out then tooling needs to be changed and a new sample needs to be made (another 1-2 months for that) You can see how the time can add up and add up QUICK! Look at our F1-I for the EVO. We we were told by several casting companies it could not be done. It took a while but it was and now its actually up for some kind of casting award....go figure.
In the end it's our standards of quality and performance that everyone has come so accustomed to that we simply cannot compromise on. You paid good money for your car and good money for your parts. We want to give you something that we can stand behind and that you can come to enjoy worry free for years to come. We do apologize for the wait but we can promise that the end product is more than worth it. With every sample and or change we get close to what we consider perfection and now we are just about 100% of the way there.
Eric
