Just got the ACT HDSS and flywheel installed. Great job by my local shop APM Racing.
The new clutch engages a lot quicker than the factory. Feels stronger and the flywheel helps a ton in low RPM at first second and third!!!
I'd definately recommend this clutch for anyone looking to replace but not spend a pretty penny on a twin disc.

Please report back after you get some time on it, usually ACT clutches are problematic.

Even if you were the best driver in the world the stock clutch on the evo x can not take launches because to get that perfect lauch you almost have 2 slip the clutch causing it to burn slightly

I've launched the car maybe 3 times in 7600 miles i don't plan on adding to that number until the clutch is upgraded. The info you are giving is obvious and should apply to any car with a stock clutch. If you launch the car you are going to shorten the life of the clutch.

I'm pretty positive that goes with any clutch. Some just handle the slippage a little better than others.

It's not so much a weak clutch as much as it just being an AWD vehicle with a solid amount of power. If you can't spin the tires like us the next next weakest link is the clutch.

it's common sense when you launch a car, something is going to give and it's going to cost money... just don't launch it if you don't have the cash to replace it.... not trying to be a jerk.

10k miles on my X, 4 weeks in summer ,2 weeks in winter including an ice lapping session.
This past summer I spent a weekend at a road race events and 1 day with friends at a closed air strip. The day at the airstrip we did MULTIPLE launches in my evo from a dead stop, on a hot day on the tarmac. The clutch held up very well despite the need to slip the clutch quite heavily for a good launch. In fact the other evo owner with us that day (who owns an 8) was quite unwilling to slip his clutch at all and as a result had much poorer launches compared to myself.
The clutch is still holding up very well although I can't say the same for the stock tires! I have a new flywheel/clutch ready to install when need be, and despite my willingness to be a DIY'er, that is one job I'll leave to the pro's.
