Panel filters work great up until 350-400whp mark... best one available is the Works filter, has no harmful oil like the K&N with more surface area- click the link in my signature, I have a barely used one for sale with a brand new cleaning kit I'm asking $50 shipped OBO (Cost $130 new)... LMK if you are interested via PM- Cheers

The oil thing is bs, a rumor that has never been proven. Iveytune did dyno tests on a bunch of drop ins and K & N was best. HKS leans out to much, doesnt filter to well. Works is same as K&N but double the price. and yes it will get you to 350whp.(not by itself, lol)

Let's face it... for $40 bucks you can't really go wrong. Even if you toss it for an intake in a few months.
If you're stock it will give you a small (but noticeable) power gain, it will lean you out, and you'll hear the spool/bov better... -if that sort of thing turns you on.
If you plan to go with the Cobb AP down the road, there is a map for this specific drop-in. I am running stage 1 93 with the HKS panel, and the car makes nice power.

Obviously not by itself, but the stock airbox sheilds heat from inside the engine bay whereas an open element filter sucks in more hot air... the oil thing BTW is not bs, the oil that comes on the K&N can get on the MAF sensor and make your car not run right, you are supposed to wash the oil off, it literally drips off the filter when you pull it out of the packaging. I had one before swapping it for the Works. Later on i switched to open element filter for use with my upper IC piping and BBK turbo.
