P1870, P1235, P0135. Codes
#1
P1870, P1235, P0135. Codes
I think is a good idea to make a thread for these codes combination.
P0102
P1235 / P1238
P1870
P0135
If any of these comes up combination in 3. Then you got most likelly a MAF sensor problem OR just simply gone bad.
The difference can be in codes , because the SST and the MT difference in the EVO.
Other words the MR can have different code combination then the GSR.
Looks to me ,many EVo is plagued with this issue. So we can discuss this problem here.
Plus if some one just got it he will know what to do after reading this post..
Symptoms are usually around 2000 rpm idle and boost limit.
Mine did run 2200 rpm and i couldn't boost over 14 psi max.
Solution:
Change the MAF for a new one. disconnect the battery, After install and reconnect the battery, let it run couple minutes, Let it run in idle. After you good to go. The whole swapping MAF work time is less then 2 minutes. Seriously. Only two screw , right in front of you, between the the airbox and the intake tube.
Or if you still have a warranty , then just go to the dealer, it is a warranty item , IF you dont have ANY /not even a drop in/ modification in your intake system.

I am getting the same codes poping up. P1870, P1235 and P0135. I do not know if it is a Maf problem. The codes had only pop up when it was -30c outside. I have had P1235 pop up alone once before.
Is there a TSB for Maf sensor failure?

I got P0102, P0131, and P0137 i believe. i'll edit if i'm wrong.
Caused by a faulty maf sensor which trigger the other two related to 02 sensors. i only have 4500 miles.
once you swap the maf with a good one all 3 codes go away.
my local dealer is giving me hell just to warranty. which is nothing new from what i experience from them on my last warranty and purchase experience. i cringe every time i think about taking my car in to mitsubishi.

So making sure it is that, and it is isolated or not issue i thought is a good idea to make a thread about it.
I think as just as important then the falling off rubber from the aero kit issue

seems like my MAF sensor may be bad as well...threw these codes P0131,P0137,P0102....it has to be the MAF sensor can't think of anything else. Car is also ideling around 2,200 RPM's. Can anyone confim that the MAF sensor is the same as the Regular Lancer? This would be a great help.

I just threw P1238 thats it. Just after installing a drop in filter, drove picked up buddies with acceleration perfectly fine. Driving on the highway went down a exit switched to 3rd gear and partial throttle to merge out. Car does a weird power give like i let go of the gas for a second. I say wtf was that. Then it happens again this time my gas pedal was basically rendered useless no power what so ever. Gauge Cluster beeping crazy at me. I pull over and my car goes into a weird idle jumps up then goes down jumpes up and goes down. Freaked me out i instantly shut off the car. Flashed it back to stock map with AP, turn it on Pull the code, clear it. Everything was fine, til i noticed my boost wouldnt go over the 0 mark at all it would resist it, power was completly gone, i barely could accelerate. It didnt go away i let it sit for a hour, still locks my boost. I dont know what to do to fix it. Any ideas?

Yup, just got the same problem yesterday. I about 10k miles too. It threw the MAF and a O2 code. Accelerating and sudden power burp of power. Now the baby idles at 2,200 RPM's like a drag car. haha
