Perhaps this is an early evo problem.... Maybe it would be good if we listed our build date and if we have oil leak problems. This could just be a problem with the early X's ....

Unfortunately, the TSB won't help you. They'll make you pay for it because you have mods regardless of the TSB. Unless you have a dealer who is cool with you having mods on your car. But, dealers like that are few and far between.

Only hope for you is that it's just a retorque of some bolts and you're good to go. Or, I guess you could take all the mods off and put stock parts back on before you take it in.

Could you post and update everyone's purchase and build date on the first page of this thread? I'll list my dates later tonight.

Sounds about right. Should be between the door...front and rear.

Okay, my production date is November 2007...purchased in March 2008.

txfoster,

which dealership do you take your car to? i'm taking my car in today to have it looked at. It'll be at Don Herring in Plano. They are aware of this problem since they brought it up during the inspection of my car.

BTW this car has 3500 miles on it in just under 1 1/2 months of ownership.
Well i have an other important question about what they found out it was. If in fact this is what my car has as well will this cause a compression surge. Because I e mailed nick at dtm and he said i was the first case of having a compression surge which is kinda odd. So i was thinking this might have something to do with it.

Plz any help full inputs would be great thanks.

I highly doubt an oil leak would cause a boost leak or compressor surge on the turbo

It's a small leak, not dangerous at all but very annoying for a 39k car!
You were right. The timing cover is leaking oil. They traced the leakage by using dye in the oil. The mechanic is pulling the cover off to see why it's leaking. I'll let you know if I get a call back.
