Any suggestions on how you would make an inline 4 with a single outlet turbo a "true" dual exhaust short of putting a chevy 350 in it?

^ LOL.... Hey quick question was this just the catback or did you have the testpipe on when doing the sound clips? Sounds good anyways!

any better pics of the clearance where the muffler is? looks kinda close to the driveshaft. can't really tell with the shadows and dark colors. any chance of heat damage from the muffler? also does the muffler protrude out in that position? like if we go over some big rocks any chance of the muffler catching one?
exhaust looks SICK

I can get my entire hand easily around the entire muffler, there is much more clearance than their appears to be in the picture. I looked at the picture and thought the same thing. When the car is stock there is a resonator that is pretty large in the same location as our muffler is now. If you decide to drive over BIG rocks then I am sure you can expect some damage to the muffler and car itself.......If you work at a quarry you might be better off driving a truck to work
Sounds clips are catback only, stock cat in place.

We will be doing decibel readings on our system as well.
Stock.... i think a Chevy Aveo exhaust is louder than the stock X to be honest.

Dont make me remove you from my MySpace friends list!
I was thinking I would use my SPL meter and measure the db in my car at idle, cruise, and hwy speeds. Then you could get your numbers as well. Since getting the X, I have rather enjoyed being able to "sneak" up on my wife at home, since she cant hear me pulling into the driveway anymore. I wish someone would spend sometime and do what GM does with exhaust systems. They have proven you CAN have quiet, and not sacrifice any power. Of course, it does take some really interesting flow designs in the exhaust system, along with some flaps to control the flow for WOT vs cruise. God, I wish we could get our motors to sound like the vette motors too With the extra 4 cylinders, we could actually have a true dual exhaust setup too. But, then it wouldn't be an Evo.
Great work guys, thanks for sharing with us all!

Nice... Waiting to hear the pricing. I hope it stays low like usual, but considering it is has the Y section that is custom, I suspect the pricing may be slightly higher.
Good work.

well not HUGE rocks but big rocks that may be lying on the road for whatever reason. in other words does the muffler stick out much more than the stock resonator? maybe a comparison pic of the two? i'll admit i thought that little muffler was gonna be LOUD, but the sound clips were awesome!

I'll see what I may be able to come up with for you as far as a comparison shot goes. I cant make any promises but i'll see what I can do.
It honestly doesnt stick down all that much. It sits up there pretty nicely.

Yeah it does. I think most of the twin-tipped exhausts will sound like this. IMO very nice indeed and no insult at all. Definitely a huge step up from stock, which has the engine sounding like an oversized sewing machine.

Dave/Jrod,
I know you guys have already stated that you will not be making multiple versions of the cat-back exhaust system, still I have to wonder what the difference in sound and HP/TQ would be if a Magnaflow was used where the bullet muffler is currently located.
Is this something you guys can think about testing?
The only thing keeping me from ordering the exhaust from you guys right now is the unknown sound level (drone) increase. I understand there is a video, but that is very hard to reference...btw were the windows down in that video? I swear I could hear cars passing by on that "closed test course"
One last question. The stock motor/exhaust causes a pretty noticeable hum around 4000 rpms. I haven't been able to tell if it's the motor or factory exhaust producing the hum. Does the new exhaus amplify or reduce the resonance/hum?
Thanks for your time,
James

The current magnaflow we have for our 8 and 9 exhaust I BELIEVE (dont hold me to that) would be to large to fit in that area. We may be able to find a smaller one that would fit if thats what David decides he wants to do. The bullet really isnt loud at all. I think people just have the loud idea in their head because of our old original race muffler. I wish everyone could just come to the shop to hear this system for themselves.
I can tell you however.... the magnaflow on a MILD Evo 8 and 9 was good for at least a 5whp LOSS. It could be more in higher hp applications. Not to mention its a lesser grade stainless and is 4.8lbs heavier than the bullet muffler
The windows were up. We were on the track alone. All the time attack cars just came in from their warm up session.
I personally do not think the exhaust drones at all. Thats just my opinion but I feel its a very mellow sounding system and you could have a conversation / listen to the radio / talk on the phone, etc... in the car with no issues.
I guess I havent been in the car long enough to hear or experience the resonance / hum you're talking about.

How does this explain the cars that you can clearly see whizzing past you in the opposite lane?
Great exhaust BTW, I can't say enough about it.
