Drives: 2010 Evo MR Touring

Cobb the way to go for my purposes?

Recently purchased a ww 2010 MR Touring. It may see the track once in its life with me, but it will almost exclusively be used as a daily driver. I think 300-320 whp and 300 wtq will be enough for that purpose. Coupled with the mods listed below that are being installed right now, my research tells me the Cobb AP coupled with a dyno tune would be the right path for me. Can the Cobb coupled with the AEM cold air intake and Fujitsubo exhaust get me reliable power close to the 300 whp and wtq numbers I seek for my daily drive?

Mods currently being installed:

Fujistubo Legalise cat-back exhaust
AEM cold intake
AST 5100 monotube coilovers
AST camber plates
AST GT springs and tender springs
AST rear shock mounts
Do-luck CF trunk
Do-luck CF front lip
Rexpeed CF side skirt extensions
Rexpeed CF side vents
Seibon CF rear diffuser
19x10 Advan RZs in gunmetallic w/ limited edition black Advan center caps
Perrin shorty antenna

300whp is easily attained. However COBB DOES NOT work with any 2009/2009 EVO X's only 2008 EVO's work with COBB.

So I would hold off on the COBB or go with ECUFLASH and have a custom tune made.

Good to know. I guess if it doesn't work with 09 it definitely won't work with 2010. Thanks.

COBB is supposedly working to make the AP work with the 2010 model. It might just take some time.

The COBB AP is great because of the ability to easily switch maps. Outside of that, a good tune is a good tune (especially for the parts you have and your goals). The AP is going to cost a little more because you need to buy the AP and then pay for a custom tune on top of that. Also, make sure there is a Cobb authorized dealer in your area (you can search on their site) that can do a protune using their Race software. If you don't have someone in your area, that might make your decision for you

Those coilovers are WAY overkill for a daily driver. You'd be better off buying a set of springs (for the lowering you obviously want), sway bars (cobb is a good choice) and buying $3500 worth of driver's education (HPDEs and the like).

You'd be faster and the money would be spent on something that stays with you for the rest of your life vs. some $$$ coilovers.

The only springs I would use are the Swifts, but they don't give me quite the perfect ride height I want. Coming from the GT-R, I'm fine with the cost of these coilovers and like the technology behind the AST monotubes. I have used coilovers on many of my other cars. I know they will ride great on the street if set properly.
