I think you are better off with getting your injector scaling dead on the ball and then upping the timing in cruise range. You will be better off with those settings.
I upped my timing more and managed to get about 2-3 mpg more at cruise with my injector trims at +1% idle and -0.5% cruise. Pretty close to 0, maybe the cruise fluctuates at more +/- 2%

scalings or latencies?
scaling shouldn't really have an impact on MPG, since the trims will bring it back into place.
latencies on the other hand...

I increased timing +3 degrees from 2500-4000 0-40 load... it did help me some.. i'm not getting the 30 mpg that HiBoost is getting either... but as I had asked, I don't know if that's because of the less restrictive mods he has or not.

I meant it as both items. Most of the times you need to adjust both to get it right. If you adjust one and the other goes out of wack. So it's a bit balancing act.
So I meant adjust injector trim = latency & scaling.

I increased timing about 2-3 degree in the areas from 40-70% load and from 2250 to 4500 range. No knock at cruise. But the MPG increase was significant. Mixed HWY and City I easily average 22-23mpg, not really babying the car either but just regular driving and giving it a boot full on the ramps. I am sure on a long trip I could average about ~25 on the highway.

how do you have your timing/anything else set? Any mods on the car?
*edit* oh I see the FPred... that could make a difference too I guess.

so do you think it's safe to adjust the 40-70 load 2 degrees?

I'm getting away with it but you definitely have to be carefull not to go too far and reduce power again. I'm sure the factory timing maps are somewhat conservative and on the low side of the optimal timing slope for any given RPM and load.

yeah, that's why i'm trying just 2 degrees, instead of 3... I thought that would help at least some

i also increased 2 deg timing. did some logging during cruise to get better milage
cruise @ 100 km/h load @ 40-60 range, cruise control on & rpm is @ approx. 2500
cruise @ 120 km/h load @ 50-80 range, cruise control on & rpm is @ approx. 3000
didn't note how much milage gained but definitely increased. was monitoring the milage after refuelling full tank.
i would try again by increasing 2 deg timing @ 2250-3500 rpm & load from 40-80. should be on the safe side.

As long as your IAT and CTS temps are within range and no knock.I say it's fine to advance the timing 2-3 degs in the 50-70 load areas. I did it and managed about 24mpg going 75mph on a 180 mile trip.

I managed roughly 26-27 mpg (at the pump) on a 1500 mile journey using 42 degrees BTDC advance in 40-80 load cells at highway cruise. Speed was between 70-80 mph the whole trip.
