I do not hide behind my keyboard. I am almost always at the meet. If you want to talk, I am more than willing.

Sounds like you guys should hash things out face to face.

Gunzo, he does bring up a good point about your base maps, it probably would be a good idea to practice what you preach and put in slightly milder warmup MIVEC maps in there! I appreciate all the info that you contribute to the Evo X tuning community and I think the end goal should be that we all make more power safely.

Those base maps were excellent for my friend's stock Evo X and the only major change was adding in my own Mivec maps. His car went from a "drowning in fuel sloth that sometimes didn't hesitate" to consistantly smooth and torquey power delivery.

For the record, I have no problem at all with Gunzo and HB Speed. They are both assets to the Evo X community.

I just do not like it when we are told that we do not know what we are doing because we set the Mivec 1 and 2 maps the same only to find out that the person berating us is doing the same thing himself. People who live in glass houses should not cast the first stone...

As I said before Gunzo knows a whole lost more than I do about ECU disassembly and I respect that greatly.

On the Exhaust Mivec I was only able to compare from different days and slightly different tunes, so there was more than one factor involved. Still for the same boost levels the more recent VDR's seem to outpace my old ones by 10-15 whp down low and 5-10 whp up top at the same boost levels. There was definitely a solid gain on the dyno so if anything I didn't lose any power by retarding exhaust on the top end with my GT30 turbo. The stock turbo probably doesn't like the exhaust retard. I think gaining over 28 mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4 is pretty strong as well and can't imagine it being much better than that for the 6500-8000 rpm range.

I ran some tests with advancing the intake Mivec today from 2500-7000 and overall it seemed to lose a little power from 5500 onwards. There may be some gains before that but it was less than 5 whp and I'll need to do more testing to verify. Spoolup was still 20 psi by 3600 in 4th so getting more aggressive with the intake Mivec doesn't seem to be worth much and likely I'll keep at 30 advance peak. I'll run some more tests back to back when I switch to the original maps again and see if I get the same results.
