If you trace the load cells from 2000 RPM 40% to 3250 RPM 240%:

Hiboost Intake Cam Advance: 20 25 25 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 25 25
JDM Intake Cam Advance: ---- 10 15 25 25 15 20 20 20 25 25 25 25 25

Hiboost Exhaust Cam Retard: 15 20 20 20 20 20 20 15 15 10 10 5 5
JDM Exhaust Cam Retard: ---- 10 20 20 15 15 10 10 10 10 10 10 0 0

Boost doesn't even start until around 100% Load so the first 6 entries aren't even in the picture for the logs. Usually when I hit the gas, Vacuum switches to boost in half a second too.

If you shift up even 250 rpm's on the JDM maps, the values can jump 5 degrees closer to mine on either map. You wouldn't think 5-10 degrees of intake advance and 5-10 degrees of exhaust retard could actually SLOW spool compared to the JDM settings although it's possible that too much of anything can overshoot the effect you want. Maybe compare the warmup maps if you get a chance which are more conservative and get more data points in the logger, possibly just log AFR, RPM, boost, Knock, and Load if that is what it takes to get more data points per RPM.

As a comparison in 3rd gear I was getting 20 psi from 2k rolls by 2900 post Mivec and 3200 pre Mivec. You seem to be around that number but it's hard to tell with that log resolution. Let me know what you guys find, without the stock turbo on my car anymore, my data will be completely different on the GT30 turbo. Definitely get that Wideband sensor a looking at as well, or maybe check for a boost leak.

Try dropping IDC, IPW, and Speed. You should get at least 70 rows of data just logging the remaining parameters only. Make sure you have Logging / Disable Multithreading selected too.

It should still make a significant difference. The stock tune tends to be very rich and with high timing so you may have to remove some timing advance to avoid knock but it should be fine.

I just wanted to circle back on this.

This weekend I got a chance to hook up with KevinD and rfielder at ED because the logs I posted on here were showing 8.x AFRs.

Boost leak test: no leaks (and a PITA to do honestly with the orientation of the airbox on the X)
Pulls with their wideband: 11.5's
Recalibrate my LC-1: 11.5's

Dammit.

OK, so I switched over to your maps and repulled. The spool doesn't seem to be affected on my car (stock turbo, 4" ETS intercooler, UICP, LICP, turbo outlet, AEM intake, 93 octane)... and in fact, the boost was lower than with the JDM map... also timing was a bit lower, but no significant knock (a couple 1 counts).

However the butt dyno said that there is definitely more power. The logs showed an increase in load cells from 200ish to 240ish on the high end. Also 2000-7000rpm was about .7 seconds faster.

So the maps do work

Cool, thanks for reporting back with your findings!

Seems odd that the boost changed but It's possible that the dyno doesn't have the same load on the car as the street. Good to see that your street testing yielded more noticeable results though! The WOT power shouldn't be that much different as the changes there were minimal, although you never know how much that can alter power output. I know the JDM maps had a bit too much exhaust retard on the top end at WOT so that could be the major difference as mine are closer to the US maps in that respect.

Drives: 2006 EVO IX

I tuned a stock Evo X the other day and was able to move peak boost from 4250 rpm stock to 3250 rpm tuned. That is 1000 rpm earlier than stock. I use a very aggressive mivec map that almost always improves spool up. Before and after 3D 4th gear logs:

Sorry for the slightly off topic post:

Is there an easier way to trace which load cells your hitting without manually looking at the log and hand drawing it out?

I import my logs from Evoscan into Logworks and do the map tracing. Logworks is free from innovate motorsports.

I've never seen someone share it like this. Thanks.

You can try something like this as well

Retard the exhaust in balance to get it to spool even better but you can go too far and make the stock turbo surge like a son of a ***** as well.

Is 35* cam timing advance even possible?
