I know I'd also really appreciate any tuners willing to share some Mivec knowledge. I don't think that knowing how to tune mivec would cause tuners to lose customers. If someone really wanted, they could just pull maps off of tuned vehicles and see what was done. Having the knowledge out there doesn't mean bad business imo.

There is a reason this exists
We worked hard to get where we are today as tuners and people who want to copy and paste tunes shoulnt be able to jack our work imho

IF you want to know how to tune mivec go try
either road tuning or buy/ rent a dyno

This should tide you guys over until I get some time to write up in more detail.

First one are the maps used for the Evo 10 in the first post in this thread.

I agree and disagree with you. A shops tune should not be shared as in a way, it violates their work. However, there are those out there that just will not tune their own car regardless of what's posted. They just do not understand it. But, there are those out there, like myself, who have a basic knowledge and understanding of tuning and will not get the car tuned by anyone other than themselves. I'm just trying to find some knowledge out there to help myself. Plus, GST already mentioned on their own that they would posted an "exhaustive" write up on duel mivec tuning. I just wanted to remind them.

I have a pretty good understanding of what to do with the intake cam. I just need some assistance, or rather guidance on the exhaust side.

Thanks for the posts, GST. I and i'm sure a select few really appreciate it.

+1 No one is asking for a tune, tuned maps, or tuning secrets in regard to MIVEC. There is a huge thread regarding the IX's MIVEC charicteristics. That thread has information as well as examples, but by no means is a dumping ground for IX MIVEC tunes from anyone. Those that chose to share were doing it on their own.

I understand and respect HB Speeds' point and stance. It just means that you guys dont have to participate in the conversation.

I agree. Sharing knowledge with those of us trying to learn doesn't necessarily equate to straight-up posting maps. Furthermore, I, for one, am not here to "cut and paste" maps into my ECU. I want to actually learn how MIVEC, etc works. That's where the real gain is

Thanks GST!!!

Indeed! Thank you GST for posting those maps, I think it will help greatly as a baseline for those with stock turbo setups. Now that I have a larger turbo in play I have had to make some tweaks over my original maps, but these are great as a reference on what works and what doesn't.

Exactly

in the land of "i have a laptop now im a tuner" these types of things can get irritating. People think that they can tune a car because they read about how to on the internet. Taking what they read as gospel and bashing others that do things differentially.

There have been those type of people since long before the internet...they can't be avoided. However, there are an equal amount, if not more of us who are eternally grateful and even monetarily generous and loyal to the shops that help us amateurs learn.

You will never lose for being overly generous. Do you think GST will lose or gain customers through their dissemination of their "lessons learned" to the evom public? I'd suggest the latter in the extreme...

Very well said! GST (Bryan) has shared tons of info, and if I was in CA, he'd be the only one tuning my evo. His extensive experience cannot be simply replaced by sharing techniques and maps. I'm self tuning because I don't have easy access to knowledgeable tuners. It doesn't save me any money to self-tune as I had to buy all the hardware and dyno time anyway, but it is interesting to learn. GST, I sure do appreciate you helping those of us wanting to learn!
